This Monday, a sales person email me someone pass on a black 85kw , I went to pay the deposit, quote insurance, got the cover note. And there is a high chance I am picking the car up on Sat !!

I am a person with ZERO patience. I am so excited and I cant even wait for 2 more days. XD

Any advice at picking up the car are highly welcome !!

Given the short wait, you may just want to have a good coat of wax put on in the meantime before you have the car wrapped in May. I've had a protective coating professionally applied to my MS but I didn't get a wrap. Search the forum using the search bar--there's good info, user feedback and comparisons on paint protection products.

Hi, lucky 4faijai ... I waited 5 weeks from confirming (over whatsapp) to getting the car, it was also someone giving up an order. There are quite a few things, as others have said, to get yourself prepared. I suffered anxiety, sort of, about range/mileage that I need per week/whereabout the supercharger/best time of the day to get charged/width of the car/parkings that I shouldn't go ...., you can avoid anxiety by finding answers here in the forum.

In particular you should consider (1) getting the 13A charging cable on delivery (2) check with delivery specialist to see if they have stock and get mid console installed on delivery (3) buy the 12V Tesla compressor in case of flat tyre (4) bring your autotoll tag for Tesla to install it inside nose cone (5) be patient to check workmanship before you leave the shop.

Good luck and share your joy here!

Hi there

A few other suggestions:
(a) check the edges between the sunroof and the windscreen and ensure the edges are proper.
(b) run your palms over the entire steering wheel to ensure there are no cuts.
(c) check wheel rims to ensure there are no blemishes - I suggest that you put in rim protectors asap.
(d) check for paint swirls, these are particularly prominent in black cars.
(e) you may wish to buy frunk and trunk mats (Locky did a group buy for us and can provide you the contact)
(f) ideally pick up the car during the day rather than in the evening as night driving of a brand new car may create issues.
(g) set your regen breaking (so the brakes don't initialise when you step of the accelerator) to low until you are used to it. You don't want to be rear ended on your way home.

4faijai,

I suggest bringing a checklist to help you inspect your car when you get it. There are various checklists on this forum. I also created a multipage checklist that I have shared with a few others. Send me a PM (private message) for more details.

There are several discussion on this HK forum about getting your vehicle wrapped with XPEL and using coatings. There are multiple shops in HK that will install XPEL at a wide range of prices from approximately $40k-$85k. There is one shop named DCC in the same building as Tesla that applies XPEL. This shop is on the opposite corner of the building as Tesla. Alex typically gives forum members a discount if they ask.
Coatings also have a lower cost but a wide range of pricing as well.

Enjoy your new car!

Dear All, Thanks for all advice : )
I just know myself too well, I have Zero patience. Waiting over a month will definitely drive myself crazy before I get the car. XD
I heard this guy gave it up because unable to install a charger at home.
I would like to say, I live in Tuen Mun and there is no type 2 nor supercharger within 20 KM from my place.
Waiting for the super charger in Panda hotel (Tsuen Wan) and I will go get a coffee break for an hour twice a week. This is my plan. : )

I heard 13A only charge 10 to 15km per hour. But I understand most places only have 13A socket ...

I am still considering if I should get the 13A cable...

I am picking up the car at 10am.

DITB in this forum lives in Gold Coast I think he said Marina club has 4x type 2 (32A/3~) up and running now which gives you 96km/hour of pretty fast charging. That parking is for member only but I'm sure if you inquiry there must be a way to get in there.

Sorry, hot product, all orders delivered.

Thanks for all the advice.

The sales person claim they have to pass over 100 cars in these 4 days and I found the Wax job were done quite bad. And there is a bad scratch on the rear quarter glass and I had to bring it back for a replacement later.

After driving 400km just yesterday and today. I found the car fabulous !! Just the speakers and rear seats sitting position are under my expectations.
To be quite honest, this car is a good deal just in HK because other Rivals are under 100% tax of the value of the car. If this car is 80k USD, this wont be in my top 3 picks in that price range.

Addicted to the acceleration, Guess I will need new rear tyres soon.

Using the Dolby setting, the codec causes the rear speakers sound to sound poor for the rear passengers (the audio from the rear speakers sounds poor up close), but from the driver position is usually quite good. Turning Dolby off will make the rear speakers sound normal.
