Getting lower Voltage on a 14-50 outlet

Just got our model Y and are doing our first longer charge at home, the rest have been top-ups so wasn't watching close.

We have a 220v 14-50 outlet that was already installed when we moved in a year ago into our rental house in CA. It was new construction, so was never used until this week. Using the mobile charger and Tesla adapter.

Am getting 32amp but only 117v so charging slower. Am assuming that this is the outlet and was probably wired incorrectly. Was going to talk to the landlord but wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else I should check first (plus he is out of town for a few days anyways).

Outlet is wired wrong, one of the hots is probably switched with the neutral (or the ground, which would be very bad since it's lower gauge wire usually).

Since this was not obvious to you, you should hire an electrician to fix it.

I would also stop using it until you get it fixed, it is not safe as wired.

Checked the box and looks good there but thanks for the quick response, will stop using!

Box looks fine, but as suggested by @senor_sausage the problem is likely the wiring in the outlet. Personally, I would switch off the breaker until the outlet is fixed.

I had a similar problem with my dryer. One side was 120v the other side 0v. Ultimately it was the breaker that failed. You could try to switch out the breaker, or better yet, have an electrition look at it.
