I work at a hospital 50 miles from home 2 days a week. Their electric rates are 5.5 cents per kwh. I asked permission from CEO of hospital and now plug in at a 110v on a lamppost. We calculated that I get about 65 cents of power per day plugged in this way and it turns out to be about 30 miles of range. I don't need it most days but some very cold days it helps. I am the only electric car here at the hospital in Sandusky so I think it sort of helps jog people's thoughts about what an electric car is. I also figure my gift to them is clean air and some peace and quiet in their neighborhood. At least they could pay me a few cents for that.

No one has expressed any jealously about me getting free juice. If they did and want to buy an EV I'd be happy to give them my plug to further the cause. Being first has some perks.
