They DID indeed offer to deliver it to me in Chattanooga. In fact, they have offered it twice now. But I have not yet paid for the car. I have wanted to make sure I get exactly what I have paid for and that it is in the condition that it ought to be in. I do not want someone rolling it off a truck and saying, "There you go!"
Doesn't Tesla offer personal delivery -- i.e. by a Tesla employee, and you write the check at your home when the car is delivered -- in Tennessee?

Or has Tesla completely abandoned personal delivery entirely? I thought Tesla was still doing it except in states where they're not allowed to (like Texas). I demanded personal delivery since it was promised when I ordered. Perhaps you should ask for it, because it would solve your problem.

That's exactly what Tesla offered. It is what I turned down for the reasons stated. I am not at all sure how that would have solved my problem. Had a truck rolled up and delivered a car that was not up to Tesla standards they would have just had to load it back up and take it back. The only thing that would solve the problem is if Tesla does NOT inform the customer when the car is due to arrive at the SC and instead waits until it arrives, checks it out completely, then (and only then) informs the customer of availability for pickup. That way there are no disappointments and rescheduling necessary.

Personal delivery is no more. Now that there are so many service centers and most customers are within 100 miles of a service center, it's a much better experience for customers (let alone far more efficient and sustainable from a business perspective) for them to take delivery from a service center. It's unfortunate communication issues like this still occasionally happen, but trust me the Tesla team will make things right.

Too bad Tesla seems to have economized too much on transit protection. When our car was delivered to BC, Canada a year ago this week (in winter), all the cars came wrapped in heavy Tyvek to protect them from road salt, gravel, etc.

This is not our car, but one of her Sig sisters in the lot of the Vancouver Service Center...

Tesla has not given up on this means of automobile protection. When I was at the Marietta Service Center picking my MS up there were several wrapped cars in the service area. The problem with mine was that a piece of this material came loose and flapped against the car. Add a bit of sand into the mix from the sandstorm it went through in Arizona and you have a recipe for some serious paint scratches.

This is what Tesla did to me. Waited until the car was at the Service Center in Chicago, then asked if I wanted to pick it up or have it delivered. Since I had no one to go with me to drive my stinker back, I had them deliver it.

Well, yes, but it saves you a multi-hour drive to the Service Center. You meet the truck at the appointed time, then check it over, and if it's not OK, back it goes. Also, since a Tesla employee is travelling *with* the car, he has a strong incentive to make sure it is OK before he delivers it, because if it isn't, he (not you) has to make the trip over again.

This part is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If Tesla refuses to offer personal delivery, they will drive away customers who are not within 100 miles of a service center.

There are lots and lots and lots of would-be customers who are not within 100 miles of a service center.

A multi-hour drive in a P85...or wait at home for something that might be right this time...Hmmmmmmm, what to choose???

A multi-hour drive delivering a P85 or work back at the shop/office for 4 hours...Hmmmmmm, what would the employee choose????
