Air at McDonald's and KFC drive-thrus 'could cause irreparable harm'
Researchers in Coventry say workers at McDonald’s, KFC and Costa Coffee drive-thru restaurants could be breathing in polluted air.
The union representing some the workers is calling for urgent talks with the fast food giants on the back of Coventry University research.
The study, which recorded levels of nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter over a two-week period at 10 drive thru outlets across the country, showed levels peaking at many times the legal limit.
A BBC investigation in conjunction with the university found o ver a two week period a McDonald’s outlet in South East London recorded average levels of nitrogen dioxide 25 per cent above the legal limit.
