Glass Roof Standard with $2000 difference to Sunroof?

Any thoughts on why Tesla made the Sunroof a +$2000 difference when it was only a $500 difference prior to making the Glass Roof a standard option?

You mean a $500 difference between the all glass and the pano previously? I've only been looking at Tesla's website since ordering ours in December but pretty sure the panoramic sunroof option has been priced at an optional $2,000? for a while. I'm assuming the body roof was easiest/least expensive for them to install, then the 3-panel glass roof next, with the sunroof and the mechanism to operate it being the costliest and more labor intense installation. If solid body roofs didn't sell well, then it makes some sense for them to drop that and standardize on the glass roof. Just because the all glass is now the defacto roof, Tesla would be stupid to only charge $500 extra for the pano sunroof.

Up until a couple days ago the glass roof was a $1500 option and the panoramic roof was a $2000 option.

Panoramic had been a $1500 option for years. I read that 80% buy the Pano option.

So the question in my mind is not the price of the Pano option but why the glass roof is free now and was a $1500 option previously. Presumably, it didn't actually cost Tesla that much compared to the metal roof and eliminating the metal roof will streamline production, which has to be a the top of their to do list.

Is the glass roof "free?" The base price car is now $1500 more than before so my take is that the glass roof, along with the 75 battery and powered liftgate, are now standard but at a higher price; how one allocates the price increase among those features is something of a personal choice.

Eliminating the all metal roof may provide some simplification of the manufacturing process.

Tesla may have also decided they wanted to include glass roofs on all Tesla cars.

NOTE that I priced out our month old fully loaded S 100D under the new price and configuration - and found the price was the same as when we ordered in January, except we'd get the 72A charger for free (we only ordered the 48A charger on our S 100D).

I ordered a 100D with the glass roof on the 5th, and the ordered confirmed on the 13th. The car is still in preproduction. The same build for my car is now $1500 less, so I asked my delivery specialist about this. He said they will bump my order to the new price book which includes the glass roof and that I should see the price reflected in a few days. :)
