The glass sunroof comes with factory UV and IR (heat) rejection treatment. This is not the case with the windshield or other side and rear glass (all laminated glass provides some UV filtering.)
If you add a quality ceramic tint to the glass roof it can make an improvement over the factory treatment. A sunshade for the glass roof (either one piece or now more commonly two piece (to eliminate any sag) will block or diffuse the rays of the sun on your head and passengers, make it more comfortable.
Some tint shops don't stock the tint films in a large (wide) enough size to tint the glass roof using one continuous piece of tint film. Some won't add tint to the glass roof claiming it can cause the roof to overheat and possibly crack the glass.
I tinted it as others have who I know. They said it helps. I would tint it a lighter color however as now I don't really have a glass roof because the tint is too dark
