It had this link as well:
@vfx Thanks for highlighting this delightful site.
How about a Tesla recreation of this trip 11 years on? Anyone want to volunteer?
Firefox reports that the page's last-modified time is Monday, November 29, 1999 11:51 AM. So, we have a little piece of history here: a present-tense story by an EV1 early adopter
Makes it all the more sad - reading it from a 2009 viewpoint, it just emphasises what GM squandered.
That's what you get reading the book too (The Car that Could).
It's a slice of time and very illuminating because it ends just as the EV1 comes out.

Stumbles across some old Saturn techs reminiscing about driving electric.
I was able to take an EV1 for a spin as part of a collegiate solar-car-racing team (see avatar).
GM and EDS sponsored Sunrayce '99 (North American collegiate solar-powered vehicle cross-country race), and GM brought an EV1 along with, showing it to the public and offering some test drives etc. at the 'media stops' spaced along the route.
The car was a blast to drive. Instant torque
I wonder how many EV1 leasees now own a Roadster or have a reservation on a Model S?
