The May debut of the GMC Hummer EV all-electric pickup has been delayed to due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

GM said development of the vehicle is “on track and undeterred,” however the public’s first look at the pickup will be pushed to a later date.

The GMC Hummer EV is scheduled for release in 2022 and intends to go head-to-head with the Tesla Cybertruck in the early days of the electric pickup market. But few details of the truck have been shared beyond a rendering of the grill and specs of up to 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 pound-feet of torque, and 0-to-60 in 3 seconds. GM has not released figures on range or price.

But, GMC did offer a new teaser video clip Tuesday that shows the Hummer EV from above as it winds down a wooded road. The view gives some vague hints to the truck’s size and shape, as well as a glass roof. Check out the video above.

Seems like another excuse blamed on COVID-19. “On track and undeterred,” but now late. Why not just say we are late because it is taking more time than expected and we want to do it right?

Honestly, the video didn't even look real. It looked 100% CGI, and bad CGI at that.

GM was making EV1s before Elon Musk had even thought of re-engineering a Lotus roadster, but they flushed it all down the crapper, most likely due to an injection of cash from Big Oil.
