Going down for maintenance this weekend

I don't like the new "high contrast" colors, but I found just now the "dark mode" in settings (was that there before?).

The bright white font on the dark mode setting is also too much. Look at most dark theme implementations with a high text volume, they use 238 or lower, not 255.

Also, fonts seem to have gotten smaller. It strains my eyes also in this respect.
Yes, the name picture and alert fonts are to small.

Hi folks - thanks for pouring your heart & soul into what I'm sure was a grueling upgrade! These kind of updates are never easy and I'm blown away actually with how seamless you've made it. Hopefully you're catching up on some sleep!

One "feature request" I'd ask for if possible (and maybe it's not) would be to have a dropdown menu list of forums - rather than click on the "Forums" button in the header, and then picking the forum I want to go to. Would save a click and reload.

Also possible I have a case of the stupids and I'm missing a quick way to jump between forums?

Thanks much -- and again, great work. IT ain't easy ;-)
I see some pages do have a drop-down next to Forums but others don't, so it is possible. Hopefully it is just an oversight that will be corrected..

Have you tried changing the font size in your profile settings?

True, but even then -- the dropdown doesn't list out all the forums, but rather the different filters. If they could add an "All Forums -->" submenu to that, it'd be perfect. Just trying to make navigation between forums a few less clicks.

Until Doug and Danny get Unread Watched Threads working, you can try my tampermonkey script to mimic this feature on desktop browsers.

And I also want to say everything else looks great!! I especially like the red background when highlighting text and that “dark mode” wasn’t lost. ;) Thanks D&D.
Thanks, @HankLloydRight ! I installed this and it appears to work exactly the way I would want it to. I've always opened threads in new tabs like that so it's great to have it done automatically now. Thanks for also adding the link to toggle back to the original view. I did notice that the Show All Threads link doesn't toggle. Maybe change it to Show New Threads if it is showing all threads already or hide it after all threads are displayed and I'll know to just refresh the page? Thanks again!

Any suggestions for Chrome on Android? I see they have a mobile version of TamperMonkey but the reviews aren't the best.

w. I did notice that the Show All Threads link doesn't toggle

Yes, I wanted add toggling like you describe, but also wanted to get the script up quickly last night, then I had to stop for the evening. Toggling back and forth is easy to add and I'll try to update that later today.

Also notice that you still have to click the Page number to see any unread threads that might have been pushed to the other pages. The script isn't smart enough to scan through multiple pages of all threads to find the unread ones. It just does it one page at a time.

I like the forum update.
But I miss the buttons at the bottom for fast "go up" / "go down" that used to "popup" when scrolling.
Please display breadcrumbs at the bottom of the page, so that I can quickly return to the sub-forum of my choice, i.e. "Belgium and the Netherlands" (in Dutch)
Okay bottom bread crumbs are back and the go up arrow is available now as soon as you start to scroll up.

Yeah I hear you, we will consider how we can improve readability.

Yeah, it's an issue that we are aware of and are working to fix

So we will be adding some direct links to important forums once we figure out the navbar issues, but what do you mean by all of the forums? Do you mean the most important forums? We do have a couple hundred forums so we can't stick them all in a drop-down.

Wow this is pretty horrid. What happened to Dark wide mode?

What the heck is "Reaction Score"?

NM, seems to be some weird weighting of reactions... although definitely looks broken. Seems it is only taking into account reactions since the update. @doug @danny seems to be a bug there.

Edit: Looks like we lost the ability to look for the top threads/posts also, based on ratings.

Edit: The new twitter-like profile header thing is neat.

I think if you fix the bug of reaction scores actually using existing data it will solve a lot of problems with trolling by a long shot. I absolutely LOVE that it is displayed in every post. It's just useless if everyone has to start over.

Edit: Also, just noticed it actually tells me my posts are withheld now. "This message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors." That's a plus. It should show a placeholder in the thread or something to let other members know there's a pending post, but it's a start.

We will see if we can bring that back at some point.

The best way I know how to describe what's in my head is with a quick Xcode whiteboard ...

Something maybe like this? If it was easy to automate the sub-sub forums (i.e. Model 3: Ordering,Production, Delivery) - those would be fine too - but even the top-levels would be fantastic.

Hope that makes sense -- and I know this is a TON of work so file this in the "would be nice to have if you have absolutely nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon" feature ;-)

Another feature I miss is the ability to click on the number of posts listed under the avatar to see all of the posts from that user. (Now I have to click on the user name and then click the number of posts from the pup-up, so it is just an extra click.)

@danny I don't know if it is a bug, @wk057 deleted his post, or you, as an admin, were able to reply to his post that is still awaiting moderation, but I can't see his post in this thread that you replied to.

Thank you. This makes the forum for us (Dutch/Flemish) far more usable.

Another wish for something that already existed before:
I miss the "popup" at the Alerts at top of the page, when you hover the mouse over the bell-symbol.
Now you have to press the bell-button to see the alerts (and they come in a page, not in a popup).

Thanks for all the hard work on the forum upgrades. 💪

I've noticed a few minor things, If you have a snag list?

1. When in dark mode, using the pagination bar to view the next page of threads returns you to light mode
2. On mobile, user avatars seem half width (or you lose the left hand side of the avatar image)
3. WYSIWYG editor appears to no longer support bulleted/numbered lists
4. Mentioned already but really hard to see which threads have unread posts due to the weighting of the bold font
5. Keyword alerts don't appear to have been migrated

What browser are you using? I do have to click the bell but the alerts are all shown in a pop-up for me when using Chrome. In Chrome for Android (mobile), I see a similar "popover".
