Got a call for delivery

I hope so. Hoping Blue/Black AWD, 19s, FSD is on the near the top of the list for the start up. I don't think I want one of the first cars coming down the line immediately after they get restarted. I would rather wait a week or so. I'm hoping the paint is better since there were rumors they upgraded the paint shop while they were down. BTW, I see hjelmn you are in New Mexico. Where are you taking delivery there since there is no center in NM right now? I'm asking as I'll be retiring there in a few years. Interested in how you deal with owning a Tesla in a place that doesn't have delivery/service centers.

Picked up my Model 3 at Denver Littleton and plan to take truck delivery for the Model Y. When I have needed service (once or twice) the mobile service has been pretty decent.

There will also be a renewed push to end the restrictions of the "Franchise Protection Act" during the next legislative session. The New Mexico legislature is part-time and meets Jan-Mar each year with alternating years being budget-only. This was a budget-only session.

The majority party generally supports allowing Tesla to open both dealerships and service centers (with some restrictions) and the minority party wants Tesla to franchise. The minority party was decimated in the 2018 state house election and will likely be decimated in the state senate election this year. If that comes to pass then a Tesla bill will have a good chance of passing both houses.

Let me try that again. I live in Las Cruces and got the “if we get you a VIN are you ready to accept your car” call. They said they would drop it off at my home.

Interesting. Same thing in Santa Fe. What configuration?

News reports say some employees were called back today. Sounds like they are getting the line started.

BTW, if you haven't already please join the Tesla Owners Club of New Mexico. The legislative push will likely start to gain steam toward the end of the year.

It would be great for NM to pass that legislation. I would be nice to have service and delivery centers there and keep folks from having to rely on out of state locations. I feel spoiled living in Houston with two galleries/show rooms and two service centers. I'm hoping to bring my Y with me when I move to NM and retire. It would be great to have local service centers by then. I've been keeping an eye on the legislation and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that is passes this time around.

I've been waiting for a VIN for several weeks now. Confirmed with my financing we will reassess once a car gets assigned but I've been holding at the insurance screen for many weeks now. I checked with my local delivery center and they have no cars. I'm assuming these cars that are coming up are ones that were from cancelled orders or were repaired after being rejected at delivery. I've been waiting a long time for my car since it was ordered on March 17, 2019. I have to say it is a bit frustrating seeing orders that were placed a few months ago getting filled. Tesla's process for manufacturing and delivering cars leaves a lot to be desired. From what I understand, it all depends on what you ordered and when Tesla gets around to building that configuration. I've not see a lot of AWD, 19s & FSD being delivered. I ordered a blue one but told my non-responsive Tesla rep I would be open to other colors and wheels. So far nothing as I think since shut down of the factory all the processes have halted. I'm hoping that once production starts up again I might actually get my car.

Same here. I have the same config, except red instead of blue, and ordered on day 1. I’ve been waiting for a VIN since beginning of March. I also live in CA, maybe 4 hours from the factory. I thought that would help get my car faster, but apparently not. I share your same frustration.

If you live that close to the factory you should call (if you haven’t already) and be able to pick I up yourself

Yeah, we’ve picked up from the factory before. Well, one was at the factory and the other was at the Fremont delivery center.

We called Tesla about my Y when they set the delivery location to the San Francisco store. Over the phone they said delivery would either be at our house or at the Santa Barbara delivery center. But I have doubts that my car has even been produced yet.

Yeah, it is obvious reserving a car early has no meaning to Tesla (other than getting some $$$ early). From what I've seen it is all hit or miss regarding when you will get your car. Purely based on what they decide has priority as the model being produced first. I've noticed just a few cars with the 19 inch Gemini wheels have been delivered so maybe there is an issue with production and delivery of those wheels that are holding our orders. I just find it a bit unfair that people who placed an order in February of 2020 got their cars long before those of us that had orders placed last year. I wish I had researched how Model 3 deliveries where handled before placing my order. I feel stupid that I thought placing the order early and plopping down $2500 of my hard earned money would mean something.:( I think I'll vent to Tesla just for the sake of getting off my chest.;)

From what I remember, Model 3 deliveries were way different. They prioritized previous owners and first-day reservation holders. My husband ordered a LR RWD for his mom on the first day (he already had a Model S) and hers was one of the first delivered after employees.

I thought the Y would be the same - I ended up canceling my order and re-ordering under my husband’s account to hopefully jump up in line.

If you’re venting to Tesla, vent some for me, too! :p:D

In the last week, I've spoken twice to my rep. from NV. He confirmed that I still wanted the car and then said we're just waiting on the VIN as soon as they fire up the factory again. I ordered a Blue/ black AWD with FSD. He confirmed they'd drop the car off in my driveway. (I live in New Mexico too, with no dealership.)

I got the same Las Vegas call, confirming I still wanted the car, asked if I had any questions. Also confirmed home drop off for Albuquerque.

With the factory up and running it probably won't be long now... Unless Alameda county shuts it back down. Still no VIN on my page but will keep watching it.
i did get a call yesterday from a delivery specialist , i got to excited seeing tesla calling tho let me tell ya ! But he just called to introduce himself , but no info on timeline or vin for me. Hopefully that means something that he called to check in?

Im not Pup, black on black and got a call from LV (im in So Cal) last week. they called, I didnt pick up (cuz I won plenty of cruises already), they didnt leave a voice mail. They called again the next day, I didnt pick up again (because I dont want another cruise), and I had no idea it was tesla calling. This time they left a message, introduced themselves, congratulated me and thats pretty much it. I called back and left a voicemail on their end basically thanking for the call and asking a few run of the mill questions that most people ask, like next steps, delivery estimates etc... they never called back. But I am not sweating it. My current car drives just fine, Im in no rush to get my Y, it will come when it comes.

My order date was about 3 or 4 weeks ago by the way, I didnt order months or a year ago like some.

Now for my 2 cents.

Its surprising to get a call from LV, there are plenty of delivery centers in So Cal (i close to 3 of them). And I dont think the call means the car is coming soon. What I think it is, is that there isnt much they can be doing right now with factory barely re-opening etc... so instead of being furloughed they are just doing the rounds and being "useful". Just going down the list and calling people that placed orders. I dont think it has any relevance on when you are going to get the car.

Because black hasnt been delivered at all yet (so not manufactured yet), and probably thousands of people ordered before me, I'll be surprised if I get mine before September. I may get a little advantage geographically (So Cal is probably easier to deliver to than East Coast for example). But with factory being closed for so long and black color not being in production yet... its going to be a long wait... so Im not even worry about it. Worrying wont make it come faster :)

Las Vegas is where the call center is.
