Dear Scott, We are pleased to announce a complimentary update to the design of the 19" wheels on your recent Model S order. You will be among the first in the world to debut this exciting new style and your wheels will still be equipped with all-season tires. We have updated your Model S configuration which you can view in your MyTesla account. Your delivery timeline has not been affected by this update, and your vehicle price will not change. Although no action is required from you, should you have any questions, please contact [email protected]
Scott What is the delivery timeline of your order? My order went into production on 3/3, and I'm still showing the previous wheels.
End of this month/early april. You might have missed it by 1 day. Someone else was saying that cars going into production after 3/4 will get the new wheels. I just confirmed my car a couple days ago so it's not in production yet.
So what do you all think of the new wheels? Makes the upgraded 19 cyclones redundant now don't they, why would you pay for them now? I like them.
i think they are quite a bit better. Like the look a lot more. I may not upgrade to the 20 inch set up that I was planning on doing.
Is anyone upset about this? Does anyone prefer the look of the old base 19" wheels over the new ones?
I think this could actually have some fairly serious effects on Tesla's margins on the Model S. I think these new base wheels are attractive enough that a lot of people won't opt for the upgraded 19" wheels ($2500) or the 21" wheels ($4500). The profit margin on those upgraded wheels is undoubtedly enormous.
It probably won't change those who want 21" all that much. It will change the 19", but I suspect that very few ordered the cyclones anyway--just not enough value for money.
Hmmm... I logged in this morning and saw I was in production. (Assuming means 3.5 - as it did not say that 3.4). No email, and my car has old rims in mytesla. Unless the updates online are 24 hours late, I don't see how cars after 3.4 got the rims...
What status was your order in when you got this? I went into production last night and had chosen stock 19".
