I have noticed that mispronounced street names by the GPS are occasionally corrected. (Here in Los Angeles, for example, the GPS has learned the correct pronunciation for "Cahuenga" and "Tujunga.") Is there a way for Tesla owners to submit other corrections? An especially egregious mispronunciation is the Spanish word "via," meaning "road." It precedes hundreds, perhaps thousands, of street names in the former Spanish colonial areas of the U.S. However, the Tesla GPS pronounces it like the Spanish word for the command "Vaya!" meaning "Go!" Or like the common U.S. pronunciation for the word meaning "by way of," also spelled "via." (For some odd reason, the Uber driver's GPS regards the word as an abbreviation for "viaduct" and not only pronounces it that way but also spells it out that way on the app display.) Many streets with Spanish names have been Anglicized over the years by the locals, but the Tesla GPS uses the original Spanish pronunciation. "San Pedro," for example, should be pronounced "San PEE-droh;" "El Segundo" is pronounced "El-seh-GUN-doh." And some English names receive bizarre French conversions. Streets named "Lyons" should not be pronounced like the French city ("Lee-OWN"). "Borchard," should be pronounced like "orchard" with an added "B," not "Bor-SHAR." And even English names should not be converted to their UK counterparts; "Wilshire" is pronounced "WILL-sher," not as if it were one of the "-shires" of England. These mispronunciations do irk people who live or work on those streets. So, given the fact that some of these mispronunciations have been corrected in the past, is there a procedure for submitting additional recommendations for consideration by the Tesla GPS powers-that-be?
