After this summer's first mid-america crossing (in all that heat!) I realised I could have gone thru Canada and:
1. Kept nice and cool.
2. Explored lakes and woods.
3. Saved miles due to the Great Circle effect. Stretch a string across a globe and see your savings!
But the two Canadian routes:
1. Sault Ste Marie > Sudbury > North Bay > Ottawa
2. Duluth > Thunder Bay > Hearst > Cochrane > North Bay
are not often discussed here, mostly due to lack of electric charging infrastructure.
So what's it like entering the Deep Woods and what is the likelihood of a motorist emerging safely at the other end?
