Great delivery experience today + a heads up on lift gate height

Hey all,
Just a quick report that I took delivery of a blue Model Y today in Indianapolis. Flawless process and the delivery expert was super helpful. The car had no issues at all, just perfect!

Just a side note --- the car is already equipped with the pedestrian warning sound in both forward and reverse (although they sound quite differently) when going slowly. I'm not a fan of the warning sound and will be looking for ways to disable it.

Lastly, a small heads up: the lift gate opens up quite high!!! It actually touched our garage door. So do NOT open up your lift gate inside your garage! Adjust the lift height THEN open up the lift gate.

The car has a vin of 49XXX.

Hope you'll enjoy your Y!

As someone who has been driving an EV for 6 years, the sound maker is worth it. I thought when we got the 3 that I would hate it, but its been great for people not paying attention in parking lots. Glad to hear they are finally showing up in the Y, I really hope mine has it.

Has your EV not had a horn? ;)

Actually, I would much rather have a more gentle horn sound to alert people in parking spots or slow speed, or a button to either hold or hit which will then activate that sound for 30 seconds or something compared to it all the time under a certain speed. I'm sure because of liability it has to be active at all times because otherwise people won't use it, etc etc etc. But that sound isn't white noise, it's way worse than an engine at low rpms.

(My Volt had a "shhhhhhh" continuous tone that was al little more like an engine and I didn't mind that. From the youtube videos though the Tesla sounds like it has a very digital sounding alert and the tone modulates in pitch or something)

Yes, the frequency modulation on the reverse sound is very dramatic. Sounds like a UFO in one of those old sci-fi movies.

Perfect delivery as well in Cherry Hill NJ. Guys were great, car was ready and in and out in no time. Got there and hour before with my list and couldn't find anything to write down. The car was perfect! **49xxx. My Y came without warning sounds and I was told they only need to put them in 50% of the cars. I here you on the lift gate. Thankfully, by luck, mine clear it by an 1/8 of an inch! Too close for call.

Are there any recommendations on what is the best and easiest checklist to bring when taking delivery? I know there’s a lot of posts but dint know if there’s one definitive list that most people use.

Here's how I did it --- I didn't use any checklist during delivery. I am a bit too lazy for that. However, I did visit the lot 2 days prior to delivery, and I did an exterior walkthrough without talking to anyone. Found a small door alignment issue, so exterior-wise I knew I was pretty happy already. So on the day of delivery, I simply double checked this one area (and focused on the interior instead. Spoke with the delivery specialist on the door alignment issue and they took did some minor adjustment so all is well. The whole process didn't induce any delivery-day stress at all.

So if you get a chance, go check out your car ahead of time to determine if you really need to go through checklists.

Or...when you first open the liftgate in your garage, grab it before it hits your garage door. Push it up manually and slowly until you're comfortable with the height. Then press/hold the button for 5 seconds to save the position.

Enjoy your new ride! I've had mine for a week and can't express how happy we are.

Yeah... I wish my delivery specialist had told me this though...
