Is he kidding? Windmills 8 miles offshore aren't going to ruin anything. I've seen large windfarms along the hills of Pennsylvania, there is nothing objectionable about them at all. In fact considering what they represent I'd say they look great. Someone should ask him if he'd rather have some coal plants in town instead.
NIMBYism, in all its forms, is rarely logical...
Any issues with wildlife out there?
Nothing I am aware of. It is a busy shipping route (into Liverpool), but that is about it.

I read recently that lead times on turbines are up to 3 years now. There is a huge gap in the market for production capability for these things.
