Had your car removed and delivered to someone else for Q2 sales waiting room

Just wanted to see how many of us ar out here.

We had a VIN and delivery date for June 30th. Tesla was afraid car wouldn't arrive in time (we live in PA) so they assigned it to someone else closer to Fremont to make Q2 numvers. Now we have no VIN.

Was told we should be at the front of the line starting July 1st. Let's hope!

They tried to pull this crap on me *after* I paid for the car. Called to complain and they reassigned the VIN back to me. Delivery specialist seems very annoyed that they pulled a paid for car without checking with him. It's their own damn fault the car was not delivered last quarter. They held it back in SF and didn't send it to Littleton when they should have (cars built after mine were in Littleton and delivered last week). Really pissed right now.

They assigned the VIN back to me as soon as the delivery specialist found out.

That's insane. We didn't pay for it yet. But we did set up financing, and insurance. Had to cancel insurance, and hope we don't have to apply for financing again

Yup. They received and cashed the check from my bank last week (the car was supposedly on its way to Littleton at the time-- that turned out to be a lie). What I find amazing is they didn't bother to talk to the delivery specialist when they did it. Just pulled the VIN and expected me to be ok with it.

Am I the only one who had paid for their car when they decided to pull the VIN?
No, I had a VIN assigned and a delivery tentatively schedule. When the delivery time came, they found out "that the car was still at the factory". Who knows what's true, but since I'm on the west coast, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Car was fully paid for.

They did find me another car, albeit with a tow hitch.

I was supposed to take delivery yesterday, they refused to take personal check and wanted to ACH before I even saw the car. I refused. The car ended up being 3 hour away and would arrive until today. Good thing I didn’t pay.

I wonder if you paying counts for them as selling the car within the quarter even though it wasn’t delivered until after quarter ended. So, good for their numbers.

They already have my down payment and loan also approved. I refused my first delivery and they didn't allow me to look at the car without paying the DP. Got assigned another VIN and as I mentioned got a new sched for delivery and then they gave to someone else

This is just asinine. I cannot comprehend what they gain from all this.

Tell us what really happened.

A transaction is not complete until the buyer accepts the product. That's contract law - make offer/accept offer, make payment/accept payment, make delivery/accept delivery. It's the same for cars and buying groceries or candy from a machine.

Seriously...someone else said it....there isn't this kind of frenzy around a mustang or a charger

Both made by crappy companies with subpar records and uninteresting technology. I know they have a following but if I was in the market for an ICE they would be dead last on my list of potential buys.

The Model Y, on the other hand, is in a class of its own. If there was any real competition then maybe the BS Tesla pulls would loose them some sales.

Exactly. That is why they tried to pull this on me. They can't put it in the books as sold but it is. I have no interest in trying to figure out how to deal with a VIN change after full payment and they shouldn't be pulling VINs that have had full payment (unless I refuse delivery).

Not exactly. They can't book the sale until you specifically accept delivery, either by signing on the dotted line or click "accept delivery" in the app. Otherwise, it's still considered a liability on their balance sheet, as they owe you a car.
