Hardware 3 FSD 12.5 (should I finally update my 2021 version?!)

So I’ve asked this question a couple times the past couple years and most people recommended to sit tight as FSD wasn’t prime time ready.

But, I just watched the video below and it’s pretty darn good. Is it worth it to lose my no internal camera monitoring, TACC, and so on? I feel like hands free solves my major concern of having increased nags though I do wear sunglasses a lot.

You may wish to wait for the sunglasses fix then. Sunlight in California can be bright.
But you need to reconsider your aversion to the internal camera and it’s option parameters on data sharing. That is a hard requirement for handsfree, likely for the next few years.

Yeah, it’s great. I drove 150 miles with sunglasses and then later 150 without sunglasses. The truely handsfree with camera monitoring without sunglasses was a big improvement.

I just pulled the trigger. Updating to 2022.44 now.

You may have to double steering wheel button reset your car. A memory clean operating system often updates cleanly.

If that doesn’t work, you may consider a trip to the service center. The upgrade path from old firmware is not obvious, and a needed package may be offline in storage.

Good luck.

Which year M3 do you have? It seems Tesla is doing incremental upgrades to get you to a current version. The first build with FSD v12.5 that you can install on HW3 is 2024.26.20, so you have a ways to go.
Tesla is finally getting its pound of flesh from me. I have a 2019 and stopped updating before they updated the UI in 2021 that I didn’t like.

Maybe it’s a good thing though since HW3 12.5 isn’t in wide release. I just saw the defeat device thread and it’s really nice having limited to no nags
