I don't recall seeing a thread for collating pictures of various hardware changes. Perhaps we should start one. Or maybe a wiki. For now, I'll try a thread and see what the mods think.

Changes that were discussed, but I can't find the threads. Please PM me if you find the pictures (or have some available):
    • Trunk footwell cover
    • Fog lights (and/or cornering lights)
    • Visor mirrors
    • Continental vs. Michelin (21" tires)

    A Bit OT but...

Can anyone confirm if the J1772 adapter is rated for 80 amps? i'm installing a Clipper Creek CS-100 in my summer home and would like to be able to use it with my Twin Charger Model S when it arrives. Wether or not the adapter can handle 80 amps has been a concern of mine.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply.

Well if you take a look at the photo @brianman posted above, both stickers show a rating for 240VAC at 80A max...

Apparently the original ones were hand-made in a small batch, and the new ones are molded plastic. The original ones were susceptible to expansion under extreme temps.

I've been testing a CS-100. Several Model S's have used it including mine, and no one has melted an adapter yet. Doesn't even get warm.

Was the new one free? Or do you have to trade in the old one?

I've added a table to the OP that includes the old and new text. The changes are in red.

They took my old one away when I went in for service last time and didn't give it back. Kind of wish they'd let me keep both.

I asked. :) I should have asked to keep the 14-50 adapter but I suspected they wanted to keep those, since they present a hazard (melting) whereas the old J1772 issue was just annoyance.

another data point. I routinely charge at 80 amps with my OpenEVSE and Tesla 1772 adaptor with zero problems.

Back on topic, I can think of a few hardware changes but I don't have photos:

    • Trunk footwell cover
    • Fog lights
    • Carpets

Saw a newer model S with different cup holders than mine. My cup holders have spring-loaded grips/prongs that help grip the cup. Saw a newer version that was just a smooth holder without the spring grip.

Early cars - when they got parcel shelves at all, which it appears very few did - got a tri-fold unit. Pictures HERE. Now they ship out ones where the rear half just flips up.

There's also the "with metal" and "without metal" (relates to the magnetic snapping).

The defroster grille still isn't a standard item... the P85+ in the Santana Row showroom last week didn't have them. i think they're "cold weather only" options installed by service.
