Has anyone had to reject a car?

It is my understanding you will be submitting a new order. If a car becomes available to your specs, either because it is unsold (unlikely), or someone else has rejected it, you could get a car sooner. Otherwise, the order will be submitted on the day you rejected the car. I don't think anyone can change the date assigned on the order delivery date estimation that is generated by the computer.

does that mean I'll be charged with the new pricing for the replacement car, if I reject the car because of defects?
I ordered before the price increases

what happens if you reject a car? I'm picking up my car on Sept 20, and was wondering what I should be looking at in case I don't (travel or issues with the car).

I understand that they will un-match my reservation with this VIN, and I'll have to wait for another VIN to be matched.

My questions to you all smart people: what has your experience been with Tesla on this? Will I get pushed to the back of the queue? I see new orders have estimated delivery for April. I don't want to get delayed by another 6 months....

The SA told me that I'll be put at the back of the line, but that could be because their job as a salesperson is to scare me into not turn-down the final sale - even if there are issues with the car that I'm not comfortable with...
My SA told me I would get the next car available, not go to the end of the line. I don't have any personal experience, though. YMMV . . .

Agree with DerbyDave's advice here. I'm ashamed to admit I made the mistake of funding before I physically saw the car, although I had the added complexity of needing to travel to another state for pickup. Also, don't accept it until you've had an opportunity to fully inspect AND drive the car. I found it deceptive that when I had my delivery appointment, they told me they were "unable to unlock the door to see the interior" until I had accepted delivery in the app. I'm a noob to Tesla so I didn't know exactly how this all works. Mine had about a dozen paint flaws and two outright damaged paint areas. The delivery specialist told me that if I rejected it, I'd get bumped to the back of the line and that a replacement would not be prioritized. It was an absolutely terrible delivery experience but I'll share those details in another thread. I should have spent more time on the forum first. There were also several flaws with the interior, but against my gut, I went ahead and accepted it with the assurance they would make it right. Well, my plaid made it 5.2 miles before catastrophic failure, where the car felt like it engaged the brakes several times (without my input) then immediately all safety systems showed failed (ABS, power steering, lane notifications, traction control etc.). It went into what I would describe as limp home mode. I had my plaid 20 minutes (delivered Sept 25th) and now it's in the shop with unknown problems with an ETA of Oct 7th, they have my money, and I had to raise so much hell just to get even a loaner. Really, really, really wish I would have rejected delivery even if it meant going back to the end of the line, but at a minimum don't give them your money until you have something you are happy with.

Very happy to report my Plaid was flawless except for the little worm on the yoke as everyone else has. It came with all the covers, keys, floor mats, and I noticed mine has paint protection film on the side in front of the rear wheels.

The arachnids look much better in person than in pictures, as you can't see all the angles and shadows until it is right in front of you.

Took it immediately to get Photosync 30 on the four door windows. Next week for Photosync 70 on the windshield. Plastidipping the emblems gloss black this weekend. Next up is determining which color to wrap the brakes in 3M reflective brake caliper film.

Absolutely amazing car, Tesla is far ahead of any competition.

Hey,

Wondering how is your Plaid running. Is it back form the service center without any further issues?
I am asking as I rejected the car because of some serious issues with adhesive coming off from the seats and trims as well as door trims. Wondering to book a Plaid since there are a lot available in the inventory.

Also not sure what is the next ETA on my car as I rejected it. I was told the same that I would go back of the line but there is no update on the app except that the car is on hold.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

It’s running fine now. Took them about 10 days to resolve the mechanical issue, it tuned out to be a front hub assembly issue (not just the wheel speed sensor that’s been somewhat of a common issue). They had to get the part from the assembly line so it took a little longer than it should.

Mobile support fixed two of my delivery issues in early Dec, those were yellow paint on my rear seat, and chipping of the black chrome on one of my door handles.

My paint issues are still not resolved in large part because I don’t have a Tesla paint shop in my state and I’m not sure I’m comfortable using an “authorized” repair facility. So in short, I’m now 3+ months out and my issues aren’t resolved.

On a side note, I’m also concerned that the paint work required will also “blemish” the vehicle history report, particularly if I use a non Tesla body shop.

That's fine. I was mostly commenting on the two posts talking about cashier's checks "cannot bounce" and being "certified." If it's not a fake check, that's true. But fraudulent cashier's checks are rampant. So much so, that many won't take them. If Tesla does, that's great.
I asked on day of how they wanted it. personal check is fine, the SA said. I was like, WTH? he said look, we always know where the car is. We can unlock it wirelessly and we can get it any time and anywhere. He was laughing, but....
You give them a bad cashiers check and maybe they come and get it accompanied by the sheriff. But they will get it.
