I know roof racks are an option but for this barbarian, can you fit an eight-foot length of lumber inside the Y? Does the front seat recline enough to shove a 9-foot kayak over it, as I do with my Highlander? (With appropriate coverings!) Trying to imagine practicality when it's Home Depot time.

I just checked with my Model 3, but Model Y should be very similar.

1. Typically when you fold the rear seat, and the front seats are in an intermediate position, you have a flat surface of 68" by 38".
The 38" is the inside distance between the two rear wheelhouses.

2. If you move the front passenger seat all the way toward the front and move then the back of the seat vertically, you have a flat surface of 90" and 30".
The 30" is the total width of the passenger seat and the central armrest.

3. If you incline backward the passenger seat, you can incline it about 45 degree. Then you can put a long beam all the way to the dashboard.
In this case you have more than 10 feet of length available, and if needed you can have an extra foot if you go all the way to the windshield.
The distance between the vertical edge of the central display and the front right pillar is 16".
If you have something quite large, like your kayak, I would recommend removing the headset
to use the full width of the front seat and to get more room between the roof and the top of the seat.

Tell me if you need additional measurements.
