They’ll make tri motor first and charge 120k for it.. then dual motor for 90 😅
If they charge $50k more than what they advertised, then they won’t have to worry about how long the waiting list is.

There are half a million people interested in a $70k Cybertruck with 500 miles of range. How many are interested in any Cybertruck for $120k?

Likely less than 100,000. Maybe? Probably much less than that.

Of course there’s that many people interested.. because it’s a 120k car that people for some reason think they’ll get for 70k lol .. no chance of getting a tri motor for anywhere near 80k.. possibly not even dual for 80

The numbers you quote are nonsense.

You are suggesting Rivian, a brand new start-up, with zero leverage, zero experience scaling, and no leverage against manufacturers to get price advantages will be able to launch a truck with similar capabilities for less than Tesla. Just the cost advantage of their batteries alone is massive. Let alone being able to lock in raw materials pricing with long term contracts.

Rivian‘s QUAD motor AWD truck with 0-60 in 3 seconds starts at $69,000. The Tri Motor competes quite well with that price wise but it’s not entirely one-sided. CT3 has better towing and cargo, but the Rivian looks nicer, has the quad motors, and appeals to and is compatible with more traditional truck accessories. Lots of people would pay $5g just for the nice paint colors. Both of them have serious off road capability, both are fast as a scalded cat. They both have adjustable air suspension.

Tesla has the most efficient manufacturing in the industry. The lowest cost batteries in the industry, and they designed the truck from the ground up to be affordable to manufacture. You think a startup is going to beat them on price on a truck which Tesla made a huge point of making affordable?

Give it a rest already.

The pricing was to create hype when they unveiled the truck.. it wouldn’t have had the same hype if they said it was gonna cost 100k+.. everyone acted like they won the lottery getting a vehicle that capable at that price.. y’all were crazy to think that was actually going to be the case
Ford has come very close to matching that pricing. As has Rivian.

This isn’t like the Model S. If Tesla bumps the prices by 10s of thousands as you suggest, people have options. Suddenly the Hummer is back in play as well at those prices.

Neither of those vehicles are anywhere near comparable… all I’m saying is manage your expectations and be pleasantly surprised if somehow it is near the prices Tesla initially said.. instead of disappointed when it isn’t.. Tesla didn’t take down the pricing for no reason, your fooling yourselves

Which teslas do you currently own and have experience with that your basing these ideas of pricing off of? And where is the 35k model 3? O wait it’s 42k.. that’s a huge difference

Most people want a truck they can put lumber in the back of, toss their bikes in, put a tent camper on, do some light off-roading in. Rivian, Ford, Cybertruck all do that. Not a lot of people are paying $100k for a truck for that.

Tesla might bump prices be 5-10%. I don’t think they will, but it would be in line with pricing changes on their existing models.

The idea they will bump them by 10s of thousands of dollar is just ridiculous though.

They sold the Model 3 SR for $35k to everyone who pre-ordered it.

If you order the Cybertruck today there is no pre-order price or configurations so people have zero expectations about pricing.

Can you please tell where in your pre-order agreement it says you will pay the price they advertised when they made the CT announcement. That would pretty much end this thread.
