Battery storage tax credit bill died AGAIN in the legislature! Hawaii's clean energy initiatives seem so hypocritical when our politicians can't pass bills which could help achieve renewable energy goals.

Senate Bill 2100, which would have replaced the current renewable energy technology systems tax credit with tax credits for solar, wind and energy storage systems, failed to advance from conference committee on Friday.
It's the third consecutive time that a measure related to establishing a tax credit for energy storage has failed to reached the governor's desk, similar measures stalled in conference committee in 2017 and 2016.
While the bill would have reduced the state tax credit for solar PV systems from 35 percent to 25 percent starting on Jan. 1, 2019, it would have also created a 25 percent credit for the addition of energy storage to existing systems, something many stakeholders in the renewable energy sector described as the next step in the evolution toward Hawaii's 100 percent renewable energy goal.
"Energy storage tax credit are absolutely in-line with our 2045 [renewable portfolio standard] goals, so it's difficult to see why it continues to fail at the legislature year after year," Will Giese, executive director of the Hawaii Solar Energy Association, told PBN. "

No word yet. Latest update: Conference Committee Meeting will reconvene on Friday, 04-27-18 at 5:00PM in Conference Room 225.
Measure Status.
Airport parking bill is dead. Legislature adjourned on Thursday. Since this is an even-numbered year, it also cannot be carried over to next session, so it'll have to be re-introduced and start all over again next year.
