Coworker just sent me these, if I'm reading this right, we're going to lose our free airport parking soon. Also changing the end date for free parking to once it hits 10% registration

After all the negative press about it last year, it was pretty much guaranteed that would go away. This bill is a compromise - extend EV benefits past this year but give up free airport parking.

At least we'll get the extension on the free non-airport parking and in municipal lots. Based on the article in Saturday's paper, we're only at 1% as of January 2020. It would be nice to keep our HOV lane benefits too.

a lot of people (myself included) use the HOV lane. No lost revenue for State. We’re even paying $50 extra per year in registration fees to help maintain it.

EV parking Benefits will expire 6/30/20. Act 168 provided for free EV parking at state and county facilities (including at Hawaii airports) and metered parking, as well as exemptions from HOV lanes through June 30, 2020. Unfortunately, bills introduced which proposed extending the the sunset date did not pass this session so EV owners will be losing these benefits

UPDATE: HOV lane exemption may be extended through September 2025 as part of Federal Highways program.

HOV was not part of the state law. Your are permitted to continue to use HOV with 1 for at least 5 more years.
