I charged both cars to 100%

Yes, this is a time when charging to 100% is definitely warranted. Which is more important, saving your life or add a little bit to the life of your battery.

Just keep it at 100% until the threat is over.

Wow, that's interesting. 90% on my 90D is 263. First time I have charged to 100% it was 291.
