I actually just got them in the mail yesterday and it took me less then 5 minutes to install them, it brightens up the trunk that is for sure, I have not installed the glove box light, will try to do that a little later today.

So, you had no difficulty finding the connector in the trunk for the new lights to plug into? Did you need to peel back the black carpet/insulation in the trunk to find the harness to connect to?

well... before he sent me the LED's he wanted me to find the connector, I ended up pulling out the entire carpet on both side to look for a wire that for me was already connected to the existing light, as I have the premium lights.... if you don't have premium lights the wire is usually stowed. (I assume non premium light models don't have a light back there?), I now know where those locations are and will be glad to help anyone here in Hawaii, or show you my installation.

update - Glove box light was even easier to install, I did not route the wires as suggested, but end result was the same, less then 5 minutes, took me longer to remove the backing from the double stick tape then installing it... :) getting old no can see

Thanks. That's good info. That's what I thought about where the wires were. My first white S had the trunk lights. The red one does not. Tesla makes the carpet with a punch out where the trunk lights go. So we can add the truck lights if we so desire. The truck light is the same as the puddle lights in the front doors. $ 25.00 a set from Tesla.

So, since you had the truck lights already, did the new lights allow you to plug in also and retain your original truck light, or did you lose your truck light connection to get the LEDs to connect?

If you have existing lights Al sends a harness with a "y" connector to tap the power to supply to both the new LED and the old light. I am assuming, if you don't have the light the split is not there.

You are correct. If you don't have the lights already, the connector on the harness is zip tied or taped to the harness out of the way. You must pull the carpet up, cut what's holding it to gain a couple of inches of wire length to access the connector. But if the lights are there, there's no "y". (I'd really like to have a few spare "y"s from Evannex. There are other places on the S where those would be very handy. Several of us on this forum have looked on automotive supplier sites looking at hundreds of connectors trying to find the same connectors that those original light use or the harness uses.

Need suggestions on where to get/what to use for the following:

- LED lights for rear license plate.
- trunk lighting
- anything other accessories/small mods?

I know some of you out there already have these but wanted to compare notes from everyone.

Thanks!

Here is another source that you can get for trunk lighting. I have ordered from Oznium in the past for the lighted front T. http://www.oznium.com

Has anyone else been wanting to get a BlackVue650GW-2ch dash cam?, there is a deal going on in massdrop.com $299.99 plus $5.00 shipping, if enough buyers sign up, (13 more need as of me writing this) comes with the Power pro and a 16GB SD card.

I do recommend the Blackvue dash cams.
You don't benefit from the use of a Power Pro in a Model S. Easier to install without it, and it doesn't help the situation. First hand experience. Mine is still in its box setting on a shelf.

Akikiki, I do agree, I was planning not to use the Power pro as well. but it's the best pricing I have seen in a while.I wish it had a bigger SD card, but I can always get one.

I have the DR500GW-HD. I've had it a while now and it does a great job. some of the long term issues I have had are
  • the GPS died on me (probably because of constant head build up over time)
  • my SD card died on me so that it would no longer update. (SD card are known to have a limited lifespan)
the 600 series is similar to the 500 series but has a slightly narrower field of view, which is OK on the Tesla because all I see on the edges of my videos are my A Pillars.
Note: the PowerPro is not needed on the Tesla MS.
