Two weeks ago Mac said everything was received and my car was ready for transit and just waiting for the next boat to Hawaii. I emailed him today to see if my missed signature on the CA reg form would impact delivery but haven't heard back. I missed the signature block on the odometer form at the bottom of the page..guess I was too excited to send back the forms!

I would also be interested to find that out. I was so excited to send them my money :frown: I haven't gotten around to signing and sending back the documents. It's still sitting on my desk. But the money was sent last week. Mac also confirmed they received the wired funds and all was good to go. Practicing patience, yet again. The last few weeks seem to be the most difficult.

thanks everyone for the great ideas on the license plate holders and safety inspection stickers. invaluable!

anyone know if they use Matson to ship the cars? I was looking at their vessel schedule to Hawaii. Guess it only takes 4 days to get here and the rest of the time the cars are waiting at the ports or SC to get processed/prepped.

Based on my multiple discussions with Mac last week, it seems that payment is all that is required to release the vehicle for shipping. I specifically asked him if my car would make this week's boat as long as I paid in full by 5/31 . . . he said that it should. He definitely did not mention anything about needing anything further from me when I asked if there was anything else I had to do to ensure timely shipment. Mac said that the delivery service retained by Tesla uses a couple of carriers to ship the cars to Hawaii, so he does not know what carrier is used for a given shipment. At the beginning of this week, I asked for confirmation that I should reasonably expect my car in 2-3 weeks from 5/31, and Mac said yes.

Good luck nanimac! I hope you get an answer soon.

I was just at the service center today to pick up my car as they took it in to fix the creaking pano roof again. They apparently have two loaners in the Hawaii service center now with the Signature red 85 (non-P) and a 60 though I do not know what color that is. When I spoke with Luke, he mentioned about the newly arrived ship and said they use Horizon Lines and described a bit how they load the containers using some kind of pulley system to suspend the first car they pull in and drive the next one under it. Also mentioned that the containers can fit four, but they only load 3 per container though he's not sure why (perhaps a weight limit per container?).
Very exciting guys and gals. Your Model S' should be ready any day now!

60 kWh, black, black leather/piano black, 21", pano, tech, air, sound, child seats, supercharging. I really hope your car made it out. These delivery unknowns are a bit frustrating.

nanimac, I am in agreement with jatk, I hope your is coming off the boat this week.
jatk, yes, a bit frustrating, but participation in this forum eases that frustration and we remind each other we are all "on the boat together". (Get it? on the boat? Did ya like the way I snuck that one in? not in the same boat, but on the boat" well, I thought it was funny, but I am weird.) Although I have the benefit of my car now, I do so enjoy the excitement and I get to re-live that joy through each of you as you countdown to that last day. From the minute I pressed "send" on my order late year, the folks on this forum made me feel like I was not alone. Made me feel like, I was not crazy and this was actually really happening. (If I failed to say this before, THANK YOU ALL!) Waiting for your car, I feel almost - not quite the same as you, but almost as much excitement for you as you feel yourself. But don't let any part make you feel helpless or frustrated. Think of it as that last few days before mom and dad put your big present under the tree. Counting that last month is like mark through those days on the calendar, one at a time. I'm sitting here at work right now; its a few minutes after 4 a.m., and I can hardly wait for the next 12 hours to countdown so I can go back out slip into Tessie and take a grand drive home. Its you folks on this forum that keep my feet on the ground and remind me that looking forward to the ride home is not crazy. Well, not too crazy. Okay, a little, but at least you understand why I am crazy.

I sent an email to Xpel with questions about their PPF kits for the MS. they now have about 10 different kits that cover most of the car.
I received a response and was told that they have a new dealer from Hawaii being certified now and will complete his training by the end of the month.
they will be sending me his information when he is ready. All I know for sure is that he currently owns a detailing shop near Pearl Harbor.

Thanks for checking. Please post the info when you find out. I'm interested in the PPF and the timing should work out perfect for when my MS finally arrives. I'm assuming Xpel i a better value than TM's offering. I saw the TM PPF on a demo model when I went for my test drive in SF and wasn't impressed. You could easily see the line on the hood from a distance, and there was definitely a noticeable difference.

Nanimac, really sorry to hear about it and hope your car is on this shipment. Back when I was speaking to Mac, I told him that with all the technology I couldn't see why it would be a monumental task just to let us know if it got on the boat or not, and which boat. It has to be in their records. That is the same information I got back when I ordered my Corvette. If UPS can do it for a small package, I'm sure they could locate a whole car. Sorry, just my rant.

Haha. Yes, it definitely helps to hear about what others have experienced. It's part of the reason I decided to pursue the orphan route as opposed to ordering. Can you tell I need immediate gratification? Looks like it will take at least 4 weeks from start to finish even though my car was just sitting around waiting for a loving home. I shouldn't complain because you all have waited far longer than I, but I thought the orphan purchase process would be faster and smoother than it has been. I emailed Mac to see if he can confirm that my car got on the boat this week. Still showing "mobile app remote access is off."

Just dropped by the SC today. Only part of this week's shipment is at the SC so far, with more cars expected on Friday. I didn't see any greens or browns, but I believe every other color is represented. The one blue had 19" wheels and the kids seats in the back. Stand by for a Friday report.

you can go to the Xpel web site to check out their patterns. they have three different coverage areas on the hood from just the front piece like OEM or full hood. (I wish they had it available here when I got my car...:frown:) they also have kits for just the doors that they didn't have the last time I checked. purchasing each kit individually runs into $$$. if I get the whole car done at once by someone locally it will hopefully be cheaper.

Jeff, That's wonderful. Isn't that about 3 weeks sooner than what you had previously been told? Is this, this Friday, today? Or next Friday?

Just in case you didn't already know, after you upload the picture, you double-click the picture and it will let you size.

Guilty.

I've been lurking here for months, and admiring all of your cars from H-1 or the Volta plugs at Ala Moana Ctr. I picked up a three year lease on a Leaf last August, and after about 2 days with it, became convinced that EVs are the future, and became absolutely obsessed with Tesla shortly thereafter. I picked up a little bit of stock in October, which has performed quite well, as I'm sure you all know; however, I didn't buy in enough to allow me to upgrade my Leaf to a Model S. But I'm definitely going in on a Gen III as soon as its announced.

In any event, I check in on this thread several times per day. And yes, Akikiki, your witty posts are a pleasure to read; but mostly it's my jealousy/envy/appreciation of all you Tesla owners that keeps me coming back.

I look forward to seeing you all on the road, and hopefully joining your ranks in the not too distant future.

Aloha,

Stoebs
