hawaiiskibum, Wasn't that GREAT service from Barry, Luke and Efron, to wait on your and still give you the complete orientation? Wow, to me, that's amazing service. I don't care how much one spends, you just don't see that type of attention to a customer any more - 'cept TM.

Question: Does anyone else's Model S drip A LOT of water after the car has been used and is off (probably just A/C condensation, but want to see if mine is dripping more than normal)? Even hours later, Our garage floor always seems wet under the rear driver side wheel where the dripping occurs, meaning there's significant amount of dripping. Just worried that it's the liquid surrounding the battery potentially, though Tesla has shown no logged faults.
Yes, my car does this. I sent pictures and descriptions via email to Luke at SC in a bit of a panic and he confirmed it is AC condensation, not to worry.

@hawaiikai - re: vacuum; assuming your're not referring to junkman's leaf blower method of drying the car, I just bought a B&D Platinum cordless vac. Works okay for sucking up most of the dust & dirt that ends up on my floor mats and I like that it has crevice and soft brush tools. A bit pricy for a cordless vac, but it's $120 right now after a coupon on Amazon.

Congratulations on the deliveries (and upcoming deliveries) of your S cars. You're in for a fun and educational week. Happy for you!

Drove today Kailua-Kapolei, errands, Kapolei-Pearl City-Haleiwa and back to Kailua on the 40kwh battery. Arrived with 20 miles left. Even with the small battery your MS is a versatile Hawaii car. Once I realized I was going long-distance I accelerated like a normal car for the remainder of the trip. Typically I do better than rated KW/mile when driving at 55 mph on the highway.

Thanks for the suggestion, gmtom1. I want something to spot clean here and there that won't take up much space to keep in the car, ideally in the 3rd row side well. I was thinking more of something like this, or something from this section -- if anyone has personal experience with these. (Already have a ShopVac in the garage that works well)

I'm using the cordless Dyson and it works well but I suspect that it'll be too long for where you plan on keeping the vacuum stored (not to mention that the battery only lasts for 10 minutes or so between charges)

Agreed. If I remember correctly from pics we've seen before, the battery coolant liquid is green - it's not clear like water.

nanimac, you are of course, welcome. But it was drtko147's idea. And TMC Admin said this thread was a monster and he had been meaning to divide it up before now.

Akikiki, you're absolutely right! They took their time, answered all my questions, and didn't rush thru the explanations. Because of the recall, they are now working 7 days a week. Barry called me today to see how things were going and asked me to bring the car back sooner than later to do the recall fix. So Red Ruby 2 is going back on Sunday. I'm going to ask them to mount the front plate with the same one that you have. Thanks for that advice. Bought it on Amazon. Also doing the side of license plate mount plate for the safety inspection sticker. Got it today at Ron's Performance on Nimitz. He said I was the 5th Tesla owner this week to come in for the mount plate.

I haven't had time to take any pictures as I've been running around getting the safety check and stuff. Tomorrow, DMV. Hopefully I'll be able to give you a better report next week, with pics.

Yea nanimac! An exciting Saturday for you! Congrats!

Regarding the A/C condensation, yes, it's alot. Efron mentioned it to me so I wasn't alarmed when I saw how much water there was on the floor. I am thankful my garage floor is sloped so it drains out nicely.

Charging question. If I take a trip and leave the car in the garage, does anyone know if it is better to leave the car charging or leave it unplugged and recharge when I return home? How much does the battery discharge daily if left sitting?

HNLDuck, Here's my two cents. It ain't gonna matter alot unless you are going to be gone more than 30 days. It might lose charge regardless. I'd ask Ownership for what's the best way.

I charge mine at night, after 9 p.m. If I charge on Night 1 on the following morning it reads 206-208 miles of charge. If I don't use it all day, by the end of the day about charge time, it will read 202-204 miles of charge. I didn't unplug it all day, and LEFT IT PLUGGED IN, to charge again back up to 208 on Night 2. On that following morning, I check and it now down a couple more miles of charge, not up. I don't have TM documentation that explains this, its my experience that if the car is left plugged in it does not begin to charge again just because it lost some juice. I tried to start charging with my App. But the app would not start the charge, even after being still plugged in, it says Charge Complete and would not give me the option to top it off.

So, its my experience it won't start charging back up, unless there's a margin, a lowest point when it will reset itself and start charging. Again, I think this is a question for Ownership, and I am very curious to know what they say.

From what I've read in the past, Tesla always recommends leaving your car plugged in when you're away for a trip. The software understands the best way to preserve your battery when it's not being used. As in Akikiki's observation, it will not continually try to keep topping off your charge, as this is not good for the long term health of the battery. If you want a more detailed response you could contact Ownership.

I agree with this. Better to leave it plugged in. Numerous stories about people being gone for a while and coming back to find their 12V battery dead after leaving their Tesla unplugged. Tesla's algorithms will balance the pack while the car remains plugged in for an extended period of time. You may, however, want to consider turning down the charge current (to maybe 15 or 20 amps) to allow the software to balance cells easier.

If you're going to be gone for a REALLY long time (like over 30 days), consider moving your charge slider (assuming you have software 4.5) (I don't) to 50% for best battery health and leaving it plugged in at 15-20 amps.
