    Was this a recent change in an update? The headlights are always on even during very bright days.

    hmmm, really? What happens when you go in to the MCU menu and specifically turn them off instead of being in "Auto" or "On"

    I had the same problem with my wife’s model S
    turns out there is a sensor in the windshield itself that controls the automatic lighting
    service replaced the windshield and all is well now
