Love the new heated steering wheel but boy does it get hot.

Has anyone else noticed how hot it gets ?

Maybe Tesla could give us a Hi and a Low setting.

@Super Dave could you not just cycle it on and off as needed to modulate the heat?

By that logic I would not need three settings on my seat heaters
or temperature controls on the climate system for heat or A.C.

Thanks for answering my question SabrToothSqrl. With 3 settings, my seats are perfect. It's been mighty cold here,
but once warm, I can adjust the seat heat down. Would like the same flexibility for the steering wheel.

i found the heated steering wheel is just perfect.
It is hot when you first touch it, once it warm my hand, it cools off to the right level....

I genuinely feel bad for you guys ..... NOT! I am still hoping that my 2021 has a heated steering wheel which simply requires activation with the next update ..... although prob not :-(

I have noticed when I first hop in my car after preconditioning with the steering wheel on, it's quite hot (almost uncomfortable). Once I drive a little bit, the temperature seems to regulate itself to a comfortable level and stay that way the rest of the drive and I almost always leave it running.

I have never owned a car with a heated steering wheel before so I can't really compare. I will get sweaty hands though sometimes when driving which seems so bizarre to me (personal problems I guess!).

An update on the heated steering wheel. Was out for a drive today in and out of the car several times.
Left Steering wheel heat on the whole time and after a while it did indeed settle down and produce
less heat. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. Thank you Magnetic Flux

What is the “born on” date of your Mode Y? I was told by my SA that any Model Y produced after Jan 7 has heated steering wheel...

yes, I am in that camp too. My X wheel gets too hot and it would be a nuisance to constantly cycle it on and off. I just turn it on before I drive along with letting the rest of the interior warm up and then hop in the car, turn it off and drive. Would be nice to have a software option to regulate it.

Hi, I'm a new member in Shelburne, VT and I love my 2020 Y! I do really miss the heated steering wheel I had in my Mercedes and am wondering if I can get my Y steering wheel adapted for heat? Of course it's in the 2021 :(

So far Tesla has not announced an upgrade option for the heated steering wheel.
