Thought you guys might be interested to know that the heated steering wheel is now listed in the US EPC:

1490214-00-B is the part code. This is for the whole wheel - inclusive of the controller and slightly different harness (extra connector).

The wheel itself has always had the potential to have 12v power supplied to it, and Tesla increased the efuse current limit for the wheel in a recent update, presumably in anticipation of this new hardware.

Obviously if you fit this the car would still need coding to have the option. Not sure whether Tesla would be prepared to do this on a car that ought not to have ever had it (e.g. VIN too low).

I would expect to see heated steering wheel as an paid OTA upgrade soon, however, on the basis that Model 3 SR+s being delivered to the UK currently don't have it activated, but LR does.

Was so happy that the Y had heated steering wheel. It's one of those things you don't care for until you have it and then you cant go back to a regular steering wheel

Agree. Even with pre conditioning I turn on the heated wheel in the Y a lot. First world problem, if it weren’t there oh well, but I think if given the choice I’d take the heated wheel over heated seats. Wish the Y had ventilated seats. I’d take that over both.

Wheels should show up on Ebay at some point. Given the wheel is complete with harness/switches, I have to think it falls in the ~$800 range to buy outright. Not terrible, but unless Tesla is going to offer re-coding to accept a wheel that was installed post-purchase, then obviously not worth it.

I had a quote from Tesla UK for £975. Not sure what that is in USD, but it’s in the ballpark of that price (I guess it might be cheaper in the States)

As you say, only really makes sense if you can get Tesla to code the option to the car.
