Help! Issue with EAP after xpel wrap and escort 9500 install

So I just picked up my Model S after getting it wrapped with xpel stealth and having an escort 9500 CI installed with the display etched into my rearview mirror.

When I was driving it home I noticed that it seemed the autopilot wasn't working right. At lower speeds everything was fine but once they got about 40 miles an hour it wouldn't stay in the lane and pulled to the left.

When I got home, I noticed that my right bumper sensor is still covered with xpel film but all the other sensors were cut out. Besides that, I checked out the cameras and they seem fine.

has anyone experienced anything like this before?

no but in hindsight we in some ways regret the expelling of our s model.Sure it protects it but we were too worried about road chips and things because the car is so expensive for us..but thinking back we wished we would have saved the $$$ on it .I mean its just a car and will depreciate alot and is a poor investment in general and the pearl white paint is multi coat anyhow.
If i did it all over again i would just get the standard black and wrap the whole car in matte black like a few cars have done here-likely less then the pearl white upgrade of paint and if we ever sell just unwrap it and it will be like new ...i think?

I ended up getting the wrap because the black paint scratched ridiculously any time I cleaned it. The stealth looks awesome but if the autopilot doesn't work it will be a real bummer

Had no problems on my full wrap. Don’t think the installer cut out every sensor through the wrap... let me check!

Edit: well I stand corrected. My custom Suntek wrap (no precut pieces) appears to be exactly that. Every sensor is cut through the wrap perfectly!

Guess it pays to pay for custom full wrap!

All I can recommend in your case is to either have someone or do it yourself, carefully cut around the sensors and peel the wrap. However, I’d consult with your installer. Part of the deal should be that all sensors work without issue!

The full wrap is great for keeping it clean and looks wonderful if done right. But it does have to be done right.

I reached out to the installer and he said to drop it off and he'll make it right. I actually found the installer through the manufacturer and he came pretty highly rated so hopefully he makes everything work again. I also don't know if it has anything to do with getting the Escort Radar detector installed with the etching in the rear view mirror

What is etching in the rear view mirror?

So they replace the whole mirror? That looks like my old BMW mirror with the Homelink-like buttons.

The mirror shouldn’t hurt autopilot (there is one sensor in the mirror I hope they duplicated....) but the covering of the ultrasonic ones definitely was a no-no it seems.

I'm just wondering if they knocked one of the three cameras out of alignment when they were remounting the rearview mirror. It seemed like they had a hard time of it. It's just odd that it works fine at lower speeds but once you get above 40 it kind of goes Haywire

Yeah, that makes more sense. The ultrasonics (in the bumpers, etc.) aren’t use at speed at all.

So I went back to the shop where I had the wrap installed and they carefully cut out the wrap from the sensor that was covered. After that, everything seemed to go back to working as it was before. Happy to know the fix was so easy!

I'm not going to declare it fixed for good until it is persistent for a couple of days but I'm pretty hopeful.
