Just received an email today saying Tesla is scheduling my home delivery next week! What should I look out for? I heard home deliveries are either done by a Tesla employee or a contractor and heard of not so great experiences? What if the M3 arrives with scratches or scuffs on the paint or something? Then they can't take it to the back of the Tesla dealer to work on it if I were to take delivery at a Tesla location. I never had that option. Also, what about the charging at home? I didn't think the M3 would arrive so fast so we didn't look into charging at home yet. Anything else I should think of? and the car loan?? I haven't even gotten my own financing yet! Ahhh!!! Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I haven't received my VIN yet either. When should I get that? By the way, I ordered RWD, non-P, 19" sport, no EAD or FS, midnight silver.
Look up a reputable electric company on Yelp and ask them to install a NEMA 14-50 in your garage. Fortunately, most companies are familiar with these outlets for Teslas in OC. Secure your own financing or ask Tesla for help going through their recommended finance company. When taking delivery, do a very thorough check of the car, inside and out, every inch of the car. Take photos of any defects Nd contact Tesla if you aren't told how to document defects.
@junodragon Nothing to worry about it. Divide and conquer the tasks below, only one might give you trouble. 1.) You can refuse a car brought to you via home delivery - but I would keep an open mind and doesn't assume 90% in your head you are going to reject it. Way more people enjoying their cars than the ones complaining. 2.) It's like $300 approximately to install a NEMA 14-50 on the back side of your panel. It's trivial for an electrician. You can get more than one quote if needed. You can trickle charge off 110 for a short time period or even just use a supercharger to stay charged until the electrician comes. 3.) Financing. This is the nail biter depending on your credit plus relying on Tesla to get you timely paperwork (the long-form MVPA). Get a quote from Tesla finance, and then call around. I think 2.29 for 60 months is the rough benchmark for the average person.
