BBC news reports that Hertz are going to build their own chargers (as expected), as they will have a lot to keep topped up:
"Electric vehicles are now mainstream, and we've only just begun to see rising global demand and interest," said Hertz interim boss Mark Fields.
It was reported Hertz would pay $4.2bn for 100,000 Model 3s over the next 14 months, which amounts to about a fifth of its fleet. The rental firm would also build a network of charging stations.
Hertz said that "beginning in early November and expanding through year end" customers would be able to rent a Tesla Model 3 at Hertz airport and neighbourhood locations at certain areas in the US and Europe.
It will be interesting to see how they resolve the "charging costs" and if they do the same high(rip-off) rates for refuelling when you bring the car back not fully fuelled as they have done with ICE cars. Hertz have been my normal car for airport collections for years, but how you get them back full will not be as easy as with petrol/diesel.

It depends on how much investors are prepared to plough into Hertz re-vamp. There would be a benefit in having their own chain of chargers en route, perhaps as a deal with another charger company (one assumes Elon said no) that Hertz customers have to use... another income stream from power sales? However it isn't likely that folk would be prepared to limit where they can drive and be unable to use alternative charge systems. Conceivably they may wish to enter the charger market and give their own customers a small discount but allow anyone else to charge too?
Rental companies won't want cars sitting around slow charging between customers - they want it back, valeted, re-fuelled and out earning..

This is the point exactly, as to returning it with a low state of charge. It cost Hertz money in that they can't rent it right away. It would be foolish of them not to charge for bringing it back at, say, 20%.
As to supercharging costs, it's extremely easy for Hertz to put it into their rental charges. They do charge by mile, for the most part.
Here in the UK they don't charge by the mile for ICE cars, you bring the vehicle back full or pay for a tank of fuel and bring it back empty. They also have a third option to allow you to just hand it back and they fill it and charge you at a rather large price per litre.
Meanwhile Hertz have said that Tesla deliveries are already happening.
Hertz have spent money on their ads, so it's just just share price pumping.. so no idea what they're playing at here.

Yes, I now just mute - but it took a while to realise that you can't turn it off!

Actually - there's nothing to turn off. Music playback is integrated to the MCU - FM tuner, bluetooth, spotify network adapter functions are separate parts of the overall MCU functionality.
