A very common reaction. He's afraid of the future and somehow sees Tesla as a threat. The contractor who did my "heavy-up" and installed my Clipper Creek EVSE was excited about the prospect of doing many more as BEVs become mainstream.
Why would you short the future? Isn't your live and your loved ones worth more? Should you not help Elon and his team and commend him for trying to save the planet? I feel sad you are doing this......

I’m just making an observation about an unprofitable, poorly run business and placing a bet accordingly. I can do this and still believe in a future of electrification of vehicles.
I heard the same argument from SunEdison investors a couple of years ago. After they went bankrupt, the individual solar projects were sold off to new owners and are doing quite well today.

I am just so very sad you are shorting the future... aren't you and you loved ones worth supporting this cause? Elon is more intelligent than the very most of us.... so help the planet and your own future cause it's already midnight.....
True but they don't do it on such a huge important and fast scale with such speed and they were not with the first ones....
To clarify - I believe the electrification of automobiles is the future and I’m not betting against that.
I’m curious what was your bet on SpaceX before they got launches and landings right.
SpaceX is a private company with mostly illiquid shares and capital markets that we can't access.
Why would we spend time thinking about SpaceX?
I wouldn’t bet against SpaceX under the assumption that the govt would bail them out as a national security interest.
