Highest production VIN in the wild

There is a year code in the VIN, so they can start 2018 from 000001 again, they only need to add a 7th digit if they plan to make more than 1 million a year, also RWD vs AWD, LHD vs RHD will also have a separate code in the VIN, so their S/N can hypothetically share the same number

No, don't think so.... our MS VIN 9328 built and delivered Apr '13 was considered a 2013 model. But it was the 9328th Tesla MS. #1 was a 2012 model. VIN #'s did not restart each year. Just the year digit changed.

Cool! Nice. Now it seems we are past the choppy waters of the unregistered test cars, and the 300 range VINs which we weren't clear about.
If we are in at least the mid 400s now it seems they must be past the initial batch of early parts they had and into more regular supply and production.
Just how fast they are actually ramping is anyone's guess, but it sounds like they are NOT stuck on anything critical.

Yeah, I think they do like to keep the counter running year to year, but as long as they are in a different model year when it "wraps around" they will have a unique VIN still because of the different date code.

The "leaked" picture from a day or so ago was a very clear and not a very subtle sing:
Message: "Production line upgrade completed, now we go full throttle"?

What does registration imply ?

"VIN lookups (see the Model 3 VIN decoder here) show that sequential VINs up #1134 have been registered with NHTSA so far."

Being debated. VIN's are assigned as early as when the car starts or even a bit earlier. Also, some speculation that they could have just reserved a block of VIN's too (if you squint, 1134 might be "hell" backwards). But now 1134 is the highest VIN of a car in some stage of production, with that stage being somewhere from completely done and an entry in a production planning database. The Electrek article is suggesting that is more meaningful but could be his speculation.

Yeah I'm wondering if that's really accurate as well there's a huge gap between 454 and 1134 - either they're in the ballpark of being on track or a month+ behind.
