What config did you guys order (LR, LR-AWD, P-AWD)? That is very quick.

LR AWD is the config, in various colors, that is being made right now in the thousands (at least one week of 5k). The locked and unlocked software capabilities have no bearing on what cars are available.

well, if they want to make anything other than the RWD at the current rate of production, they will have no choice but to slow their production. The number of RWD orders has also been reduced (by percentage of orders) due to the AWD and P being available for purchase. My guess is 50-60 percent of what's being produced is RWD.

I think they may slow production of RWD but there are plenty of already built RWD ready to be delivered.

My vote is Ps on GA4 and AWD done inside. (mainly due to volume needed)

Says the guy waiting for an AWD car. I am sure there are LOTS of RWD cars people are waiting on. Plus, there is NO difference between AWD and P on the production line. The RWD only has the one motor and supporting parts installed

Performance models have quite a few differences actually. Different brakes, different wheels, different interior, etc.

I think the point was different part variations, but they attach the same way. Black trim vs white trim, 20" tires vs 18". No difference in complexity.
Spoiler and (I think) pedal covers are installed by service center..

The windshield wipers and glass roof should be installed after the car body runs thru the paint shop. So I'm not sure how paint would get on these components.

If they did a "touch up" of the paint it could have happened then.
