Environmental Protection Interactive Centre : Motor Vehicle with Noise Type Approval List

Three Model S types were noise approved on 19th March 2014.

Still looking for something on transport department type approval.

Are you sure they make ENOUGH noise to be compliant? I wouldn't be surprised if HK had some bracket, minimum and maximum noise. Just like the silly requirements preventing us from getting the rear facing seats.

OK, if three model S types are approved, then I guess it's OK :)

Boeing has a policy of noise in the cabin. As opposed to Airbus, Mr. Boeing says it shouldn't be too quiet in the cabin, so that you can have privacy in conversations (and crying babies have less of a chance to wake up the entire aircraft!)

More noise: Germany are quite proactive with noise certificates for aircraft in their airports, and have been so already for decades now. The take-off charge increases with a higher level of noise on the certificate, and most airports don't even allow the aircraft if it makes too much noise (like an original unmodified Boeing 727 or DC-8!). So there was a time this glider aircraft couldn't reach back home (in Berlin) and had to make a landing at one of the major Berlin international airports. Since the glider didn't have any noise certificate, he had to pay the maximum take-off charge!

Just placed my order today. I only see a RN number. What is that? Will I get another number down the road? What is the process? Do share! Thanks.

Nice, congratulations!

I think orders after around February 2014 only got the RN number, and no sequence number (at least, if there is, then only internally in Tesla).

They will get back to you with more information, keep us posted. At some stage, a Tesla rep will contact you. When that happened to me, I asked him if we could go through all the options, and we did, one by one. This meant I ditched the fog lights, and on the other hand, I decided for the panoramic roof. Even after your order, there are ways to change the order (at least, for a while, don't wait too long).

You can update your info here if you like:

HK: Deposit date - confirmation - Sequence # - expected delivery

As you can see Lerxt he didn't get a sequence number either, and he ordered 24th of February this year, so if you join the list, I will add you below him (according to your order date)

Below is an email reply I got several days ago from Linda regarding the delivery delays and the possibility to switch to Signature (yes, I'm that desperate). According to her, I'm getting it in August, so those with an earlier number should technically get theirs in late July/August... However, I'm not so sure what "September and later is currently our estimated time frame for any new deliveries received." is referring to. I guess she means "...for any new orders received." ??

Tony,

Thanks for your email. Our Signature series are completely closed and we are no longer accepting Signature requests.
All Model S production for Hong Kong has recently been pushed back by several weeks given various concerns. Based on the production schedule changes, it looks as though your Model S will most likely be delivered sometime in August. September and later is currently our estimated time frame for any new deliveries received.
Moving forward, a delivery specialist will contact you about a month prior to delivery to advise on next steps going forward. I apologize for the inconvenience, but we appreciate all your ongoing patience and support.

Thanks,
Linda

Lucky I keep my Signature order, I almost downgraded to production and even Linda created a new order for production for me.

You paid a lot more down payment than us non-Sigs, so you have greatly helped Tesla with cash flow / liquidity issues, even interest free. A great trust in the company, which I would have done myself if could at the time, but they had to do with my 39K HKD instead of (what was it?) 330K HKD you paid? It's so long time ago so the figures are not fresh in mind any more!

If I was a Signature buyer, and all the non-Sigs came at the same time, or just after mine, I might have been a bit disappointed. So enjoy your earlier delivery, you deserve it, being one of the spearheads of Tesla model S introduction in Hong Kong!

If it wasn't for people like you, and people who bought the Tesla Roadster, Tesla Motors might not have existed today.

That car has regular plates on it - not dealer plates. To get regular plates, the car must be registered. To get registered, the car must be type approved. Woohoo. The final hurdle seems to have been passed, and now the way is clear to get these cars in the hands of us mere mortals.

Yes, it's great news!

Too bad still ... about the lack of rear facing seats. Fingers are still crossed for a last minute exemption, though chances seem slim. Just happy the car is on track - eh, I mean road.

Hi all, have been a regular visitor here for a while but only until tonight I decided to create an account

#??? - jh78 - 20/3/2014 - 2/4/2014 - Summer/Fall 2014 - P85+/Solid White/Pano Roof/Tech Pack/Grey 21"/Extended Leather/Matte Wood/Fog/Sensor/Premium Lighting/Black Leather

getting more and more excited although we hear both good and bad things about the HK config.
