It has been discussed many times already, here is from the Tesla Motors forum:

Model S waterproof I hope? | Forums | Tesla Motors

driving thru water / flooded street is battery protected | Forums | Tesla Motors

Is Model S drivetrain waterproof? | Forums | Tesla Motors

    Warranty (esp. driving through floods!)!)

If you want more, do an internet search of

    Tesla Model S Flooding

    or similar.

You will likely have more trouble with a conventional car. An electric car doesn't use oxygen, as there is no combustion. You should be more concerned about water coming into the car I think, or if it's really deep, if it starts floating away.

Besides, check your insurance policy, I think most insurances don't cover while driving in signal 8 or black rain storm? Maybe it's OK, but check it.
