Hold Grocery Bags Upright in the Trunk

One of the things I missed in my MS was hooks for the handles of grocery bags to keep the bags from tipping over in the trunk. I came up with a simple solution that anyone can install:

I chose to use a nylon strap with a clip buckle, but you could use just about anything even as simple as a short piece of line.

To my pleasant surprise there are slits in the lining that are just right to attach the webbing. You can use these slits to secure the belt or cord.

I really like this - simple, cheap and should work. I've used hooks in the back of other cars, and this strap reinstates this familiar method. I will look for the slit - hope it is stronger than just the liner fabric.

I have a few of these Dröna boxes from Ikea in my trunk. $5ea

lightweight and fold flat when not needed. fits under the closed parcel shelf when expanded in use.

fabric sides with rigid bottom and frame - but they're not super strong, so not the best if you intend to lift the whole box out of the trunk to carry heavy loads back to the house. but perfect for putting grocery bags in and not worrying about them tipping over while driving

We bought a Rola organizer (large) off Amazon for our trunk well area for storing needed car supplies etc. Good fit. I recently bought a second one (large) to leave in the cargo area folded flat with bags inside to minimize space until we needed it for groceries (fits 4 brown paper grocery bags). Mentioned this under one of the cargo organizer threads here. Best price I found on it was here for 51.99 (20% off, in stock right now, and free shipping): ROLA MOVE Cargo Organizer . Made in America, very impressed with the quality of it, pockets are all moveable with velcro. Shipped to me FedEx ground for free. Really a no brainer. There is a smaller size as well.

Here's two photos of the Rola in our MS cargo area. Bags tucked inside for convenient future use, and the surface of the bottom of the Rola which I don't think anyone has shown before. Not the best pictures due to the sun and shadows. BTW the black square bag at the top is what the sunshade for the pano sunroof comes in.

Those hooks are nice if you still get plastic bags at stores. They outlawed them here in our area of California and now we are left with those large plastic or vinyl-coated rectangular size bags that places like Trader Joes and TJMaxx sell at checkout which tend to get filled up with heavier things. We still find ourselves buying the paper bags on occasion at the checkout or carting all our purchases out to the car and stand there filling the paper bags we've left in our cargo carrier. Always feel like a shop lifter taking stuff out of the store not bagged though.
