Home delivery in RI vs service center in Mt Kisco ny

So my sales rep based in Dedham mass (30 min away) suggested a home delivery for our X. For some reason Tesla doesn’t permit RI residents to pick up their car in MA. I thought home delivery sounded great. Then, the delivery specialist sent me this email basically telling me that home delivery sucks. She didn’t put it in those words, but noted that it may delay delivery by 2 weeks, that the car will need to be purchased in advance of scheduling delivery (so 2-3 weeks prior), and that the car will be a paper weight in my driveway for 2-3 weeks AFTER delivery while I wait for DMV papers to be sent to me as they cannot provide temp registration.
Or, she suggested, I can schlep 3.5 hours to Mt Kisco to take delivery there and have a blissful experience and drive away with temp plates etc.
Any other RI owners go through this? The reality of home delivery sure sounds worse than my sales reps indicated.

Personally, I would go for a Service Center delivery. The car will be checked out thoroughly, clean and detailed. Ask if Tesla will provide a one-way rental car to get there. They did that for me, when I had to pick up my 2015 in Ohio.

Doesn't sound right to be honest. We were offered home delivery with keys in hand being able to drive that day. A Tesla employee was supposed to arrive at the time of home delivery to go over the vehicle with us here. Tesla actually told us they preferred home delivery because we'd get our car SOONER that way. In the end, my wife wanted the experience of a dealership delivery so we went to the service center.

If they're giving you this much of a runaround, I'd just go to the service center to be safe. They're supposed to be making this part the easiest for you. Something tells me they don't want to go the extra mile(s) and complete the paperwork at your home.

At least you'll have a wonderful drive back home in your new vehicle. Congrats and enjoy!

Picked up my MX from Mt Kisco a couple of weeks ago. Got the same advice from the delivery advisor. He offered home delivery to Vermont, but gently nudged me to going to Mt Kisco. Mt. Kisco was backed up, but I never felt rushed during the delivery. In fact, I had a minor issue with the MX that the service center was able to fully address at the time. Put temp plates on and off I went on a very pleasant drive North.

Pick it up in Mt Kisco. You’ll love the drive home!

I would choose SC delivery. I picked mine up from Mt Kisco. They were ridiculously busy but still spent 1 hour with my wife and I taking us through all the features inside and out. Good service.
