"Home" settings -- gate and garage openers

Options allow me to set the distance at which our 2016 Model S 90D tells the gate and/or garage door to open. I know the gate can be opened from 100' away, because I can do it manually (poking at the screen while trying to navigate the driveway) -- but the car will not do this automatically, as per setting. Anyone have similar experience and a fix for this?

I personally have sampled various distances... and found 40-50 feet seems to be max for the auto opening function to work consistently.

I'd be happy for it to work even once in a while. But I'll try your setting as a compromise. Thanks.
