When I am getting FSD how does summon work without homelink, correct me if I am missing something

Without Homelink Summon mode will obviously not be able to automatically open and close the garage door for you. IMO, it is a party trick and you may give yourself a heart attack if it doesn't pull it off correctly. The car can hit the garage door, the garage door can close on the car. It is just easier to drive the car in and out of the garage then to get out and use a remote control.

I always see this use case where Summon is used to move your car out a few feet from a tight parking spot. Who parks there expensive Telsa into a parking spot so tight that you can't open the door? And what about the other cars doors denting up your new Tesla. Just find another parking spot. :)

so mine is a 6/2019 build on the doorjam. There's no homelink on the screen but they told me at Costa Mesa that homelink ("would come via software update") and there was no need for me to purchase the $300 homelink.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

No, they just made that up because they didn’t know the right answer. There’s a lot of inexperienced delivery people at Costa Mesa.

You need to install a piece of hardware behind the front bumper of your car for Homelink to work. It can be installed at the service center and it does cost $300. If you placed your order prior to May 31st you have a legitimate argument that it should be included because it still showed in the product description on the website up until then.

ok thanks. Yeah that's what I thought. I ordered Mid June and just received it so it wasn't in the description. Sales ppl didn't know their facts....

Also mine didn't come with J1772 SAE adapter - did they stop including that too?

Newbie here - Greetings to all! I had put in the deposit on Apr 30 for $2500. Then took care of the other amount formalities on June 1 and I got delivery yesterday June 24. No homelink - the label on the driver side says 06/19.

Any recommendations please?
Thank you!

I ordered on 5/28 and by build date is 6/16 and I did not receive homelink. I called and the delivery specialist said it should be included and to go ahead and make a service appointment. An hour after I scheduled my service appointment I get a text from them that since it wasn’t built before 5/30 I’d need to pay for it but if I have an email from delivery they’d honor it. So I call Tesla back and they said they would look into it. This was at around 1 pm yesterday and still crickets. Looks like I might have to fight them on this

Ordered May 28th, door jam manufacturing date says June 2019 and I took delivery on June 12th and it came with Homelink. I kind of thought it was stupid before I received the car (how hard is it to press the button manually??), but I have to say it works better than the clicker that always takes 4 pushes before it opens. Not worth the $300, but definitely a nice to have.

I think if they want to make Homelink an accessory then fine but it should be $100 and something we can install ourselves. I have owned other cars that have had optional Homelink on the visor or the rear view mirror but they are easy to order the part and swap it out if you want to add the option. This process is annoying since you have to pay $300 and wait for service appt vs. just using the $5 garage door opener. For $300 bucks you might as well upgrade your garage door opener itself. They now come with WiFi and you can open and close them from an app on your phone, even if you are a 1000 miles from home.

"Hey Bob, look how futuristic my car is with this large screen to control everything and it can even drive itself." "Cool, but let me ask you, what the heck is that eyesore on the visor?" "Yeah, don't look at that, that is my garage door opener from 1987." ;)

Ordered 5/21 delivered 6/19. No Homelink. A couple of emails later and they scheduled a service visit to install it at no charge. Based on talking to the service person on the phone, some memo has gone out.

I would say that anyone who got a car with Homelink on a June order is lucky.

I would also say that if you ordered on 5/31 or 5/30 there may be some arguing as I don't know when, exactly, on that day they made the change.
