Horrible delivery experience from Fremont - Assigned a new VIN

I'm reposting from the /r/teslamotors experience thread from reddit onto this forum as I think it should be seen.

Note: Posting for a friend since they are currently having a terrible experience with picking up their Tesla from Fremont.

  • Pickup was scheduled on Saturday, June 30th - 4pm
  • Drove from San Mateo area to go pick it up at 4pm and sat in the waiting area but no one came to assist. Had to remind Tesla employee's he was there for his Model 3 pickup at 4pm twice.
  • Waited some more and was notified that his car was not here and not ready for pick up even though that was the date set.
  • Apparently they said that the car was sent to a San Francisco Delivery center and not at the Fremont center. They offered home delivery as compensation.
    • I think one mistake was he didn't get this in formal or written writing for that day.
  • Finds out his Delivery specialist is out of office for the next week.
  • No contact and no delivery happens on Sunday.
Now here's the kicker.. Monday comes, he's been given a delivery time and they call back later telling him that his car is not available and he has to get a new VIN, basically a new car.

Added hassle is that he's already prepared insurance and the car loan on this new VIN. (Since the MVPA has the previous VIN and paperwork associated to that).

I have never heard of a delivery experience this bad where a new VIN is assigned. I'm going to assume they messed up someone else's delivery and shafted my friend from receiving his car because they also complained about the process.

He's handling it like a champ but I found this outrageous and had to post the experience here. (Since he's not the one to complain much).

Objection your honor .. hearsay.

I'm posting on his behalf because he isn't outspoken about it, if you really want more proof I can provide it.

I've already picked up my own Model 3 LR and I love it, but this experience is not something anyone should go through. It tipped the line for me when a new VIN had to be assigned.

This sucks! What would it take for Tesla to fix these very basic issues? And how much longer do we have to hear about them.

On another note, the stock is tanking ... new production numbers are not convincing enough
