Hotspot recommendations

I know there are posts on this forum regarding hotspots, but some of them are a few years old, and the technology, rate plans, and hardware change so often that I thought I'd see if anyone might have updated info on this.

I'm in the market for wifi hotspot for my Model S. I need it so that my BlackVue dash cam can connect to the cloud. I'm currently a Sprint customer. Does anyone here have any experiences (good and bad) with these "mobile hotspots"? Any recommendations?

My T-Mobile Magenta Plus plan gives me 20GB of 4G LTE data, then Unlimited amount of data @ 3G speed. The Hotspot device itself was $20 I believe (it's been a couple of years since I added it to my account).
