I am going to Austin from Spring, with a 100% charge, and go 290. We are going direct to the Hilton, 500 E 4th. St. I have been there before in my ICE, (YUK) and they have two 30A (Chargepoints) there on sub level 4.
So, who has done the trip, and any way you can tell me how it went ?? There is another thread on here from Stephen Pace who went to Hilton Austin, and these Charge Docks didnt even work, even though he drilled them about them being available and operable. SO.... Just asking the status, if anyone knows.
I think I will have about 70 or 80 rated left when I get there..... but I am just surmising.

Vive buffed out most evidence of the scrape in about 10 minutes for almost nothing! It's not perfect, can still see some radial hairline cracks at point of impact, but I think I will live with it rather that spend the big bucks to replace the fender. I will go there when I do the tinting seem to have very good products...
AC noise is sometimes very loud if car has been sitting in the sun, much louder than I would have imagined.

I ordered a Brown 85P+ with grey 21 in wheels, and and carbon fiber interior, carbon fiber spoiler, panoramic roof, sound package, paint armor and parcel shelf. The factory accepted my order on May 24. I should have it by the end of June.

Everybody at the Galleria store is fantastic. Wesley at the Service Center is phenomenal. I met the Delivery Specialist and I bet she will be fantastic as well. The Service Manager was kind of abrupt and I did not appreciate his attitude. He wanted to know why I was there and how I knew about the service center. I wonder why a Service Manager would wonder why somebody ordering a car north of $110k would be interested in where they get their car serviced.

I am keeping my Chevrolet Volt and will charge the Model S from the 240 volt Blink Charger that I currently have. I will give up my 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette Convertible to make room for the Tesla.

Not to defend it, but more to explain it... Maybe they had some "drama" recently with all the legal stuff going on in Texas w/r/t Tesla.

The service manager in Houston? He's a great guy so must have got him on an off day. Legally in Texas the service centers can't do drop ins for service. You can't even schedule a service by driving to the service center to make an appointment or even call them. You can drive there, stand at the front door then call California and they can call the service manager 5 feet away to schedule the appointment though. Genius Texas legislators at work there.

Just for the sake of argument...

Is it illegal to schedule the appointment via web site from the 17" while in the parking lot of the service center?

Also, I think it was said that the representatives in the stores/galleries can't provide pricing information. But can the car do it? If they added text-to-speech to the in-car browser? Or would they impound the car until the legal proceedings?

I'm sure a lot of the stuff falls into a strange gray area. If you e-mail HQ (2 people handle Texas appointments) on the 17" screen in the parking lot then can schedule the appointment but you can't call the service center yourself.

I'm not sure they are allowed to even display the price in the galleries (not stores) but if a customer leaves it up maybe. They'd probably take it down though. I'm sure the dealerships send people to 'audit' the stores hoping to catch them 'selling' the car which is illegal in Texas. The galleries are there only for information purposes.

I was in the gallery last weekend and got to inform a person inquiring about the car its prices and ranges. It was fun being able to help the employees out. It was like I was in there trying to make a sale, but really was just having a good time myself.

We do that in Austin sometimes too. Volunteer Tesla Time its called. We just hang out and when someone asks a question we raise our hands and say 'we can help you. We don't work for Tesla so can answer any questions you have'.

@gnelson: Does that Blink Charger only run 30 amps? I think at a minimum you would want to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet for the 50 amp hookup. You can always use your mobile adapter to plug into a 14-50 outlet at your house.

The Blink Charger is rated for a maximum of 30 amps. It is plugged into a NEMA 14-50 outlet. I am not sure what amperage in utilized in the breaker. I own a high rise and the builder ran the wiring as part of the purchase. I don't really want to unplug the Blink to plug in the Tesla. The blink takes a while to boot if I disconnect and re-connect it. I can't charge the Volt directly from the outlet. I can plug the Volt into a 110 volt outlet nearby, but that takes 10 hr to charge the Volt if it is fully discharged.

I understand the legal issues. He could explain them without interrogating me. He could suggest I get Mason or Callie to call him. Wesley was much nicer and did suggest I could get Mason to call the Service center if I ever needed anything. Whitney also took my number and told me that she would call me as soon as she put her eyes on a brown Tesla.

If it's the same service manager, he's always been great to deal with so not sure why this happened.

@gnelson: I guess depending on your needs you will determine what works best for you as far as charging times are concerned. I think you will find that ideally you will want to have a 50 amp hookup. The car tells you how many amps it is getting when it is plugged in so you will be able to experiment and see the differences in charging times. Also I'm sure the service manager thought you were a spy sent by the auto dealers association or something so he was probably just being cautious.

Good points. Will my car be delivered with the J1772 adapter? If not where can I obtain one prior to the delivery?

Your car will come with the J1772 adapter, one for regular 110V outlets and one for NEMA 14-50 outlets. If you have a garage where you can just hang your charge cable, you'll want a NEMA 14-50 outlet most likely as that will allow you an extra 10A (40A total) and you can use the Tesla cable to open the charge port door with the button on the cable. Pretty slick.

Hi Lynn, how much was that CCI? btw, Misspelling on your banner...how did you get the banner on there????? Just copy/paste from someone else? Nice to have met you at the last event!

Yeah, I think I have heard a loud humming sound now that it has gotten hotter...I thought maybe it was the batteries being cooled or something, not the A/C. I'll have to check on that. I think it is mostly noticeable when I first get the car going.

That is hilarious! I never noticed the misspelling. I went into "Settings" at the top of the page and "Edit Signature." My second place showing in my Elementary school Spelling Bee x years ago is now tainted - thanks for the heads up!!

My CCI was about $1171 including tax and shipping. It's the high end version, with leather and carbon fiber that matches my Telsa -- LOL! It looks like it came with the car. My only complaint is that the base of the cup holder has a rim making it narrower than the rest of the holder. It doesn't quite fit my 20 oz. Diet Cokes. I contacted the company and they said to get back in touch with them in a month or so and they'll give me an insert they're currently working on.

Hi. Welcome. I don't think it's been officially decided where Tesla will have their service center in Texas although I'd imagine it would be Houston. They're still working with the legislature on getting approval for a service center in Texas I believe. It's technically illegal for Tesla to sell cars in Texas too which is why the sales people in Houston can't talk to you about selling the car, just about the car. They point you to the website where you place your order.

This is a relevant photo of the Tesla Service Center in Houston, Texas. This photo was taken and posted by someone else. This is not a photo that I have taken. I had driven past there a few months ago. I believe someone has already posted the exact address of where the Houston Tesla Motors service center is.
