I have seen similar threads from our American neighbors. I wonder what the deal is here, in Ontario. I was driving the loaner on 403 HOV lane but then it occurred to me that the plates are red and not green. It wasn't too busy so I got off without thinking much. But I guess it could be an issue, no?

It would indeed be an issue. You need to have the green vehicle plates to drive in the lane.

Yes it could be an issue as you didn't have green plates. Twchnically it is the green plates that let you use the HOV lanes, not the fact that you are driving an EV. But you need an EV to get green plates.

It is an issue...moving forward, all EV manufacturers should be lobbying the ON Provincial gov for the creation of "green" dealer plates imo.

Definitely an issue in California. No sticker, get a ticket. And not cheap.
