The European circuit breaker appears to be a lot more complex but also more delicate.

Because european breaker actually do more stuff. It has venting. It has arc suppression. It has different ratings for reaction speed and overcurrent allowance (starting motors has huge inrush current, which will trigger breaker with no actual danger of overload).
