How can you tell that the alarm is activated?

Leave a window open. Lock the car. Leave key far from car. Reach through the window and open the door. If the alarm sounds, it was on.

Park late at night in bad part of town. Return next day. If car is no longer there, alarm was not on

On the top right of your dashboard there's this icon. For me, when I park, if the dot in the middle is red that means sentry mode is/will be activate on my departure. But when I'm at home/work/favourites where I've set to disable sentry the dot stays white like the photo above.

None of my traditional cars with OEM alarms flashed the lights when the alarm was activated. Just locking it activated them.

@bchan911 good info, but @Gellie was asking about the alarm, not sentry mode. While both are security features, they are independent.

Probably. I had assumed it was the headlights flashing once.
But even the LEDs I have had on the OEMs.
