In my case, they're saying they won't do anything and that having the physical layout on my SE portal is not required as part of my contracted install.
"Already done when SolarEdge portal access was granted"
I worked with certified installer and when I asked about physical layout, one of the guys showed the panel layout map with place for stickers. Installers passed this map to the PM and he provided me with layout. Still, he managed to misplace one row of panels with other.
Thanks for "PSA" post - before panels were installed I took pics of optimizers IDs - so it as easy to catch and fix.
Another thread on this issue here: PSA for folks getting a new solar install - ask for a map of your panel/optimizer layout
I asked my installer like 5 times to make sure they recorded the locations. Every time they pulled out an optimizer and hooked it up, I never saw them write anything down and they seemed to be pulling them randomly out of a box. Pretty this is why the layout was never done.
I now have the admin tab available on the SE portal but still not Physical Layout tab so I can't create and publish my own layout.
How do I get an admin tab on the SE portal?
I just got PTO and received my SolarEdge logon. I have the mapping from the install team and I would like to get it onto SolarEdge as all I see now is a single long line of my 24 panels. Is API access the same as an installer account? I really only want the mapping feature one time. You have to ask for it. You'll need it if you want API access.

Am wondering if there is a practical need for this? I know if has been fun to look at things, but.
Power gets produced, used and sent back on the grid without the need of any of this, right?
Yea, I understand that. I have looked at mine also. I never thought about asking for the serial number per panel during installation. If you have a panel that in underproducing it allows you to know which one. That way you can see if it is a shading issue, or look to see if it is a failed panel, optimizer, or wiring connection.

I worked with SE and got the physical layout in my SE account.. good to see individual panel level production
Just create your own account at SE- I'm currently doing a self install and used all their tools with an account I set up for my self.
You got SE to do this with Tesla as the installer?
I got the layout and serial number from Tesla on the day of the install.. Then worked with SE to get the physical layout on my account. I got lucky..
